Making a difference is something all of us would like the ability to do at some point in our lives. The opportunity to see that difference and how you have positivity impacted something can be even more challenging.

When you give to the Ohio Bobcat Club, you have that opportunity to make a difference and see, first-hand, the impact of your gift to a student-athlete. Your support enhances their educational opportunities, personal growth and athletic achievements. This, in turn, leads

to the growth, exposure and prestige of OHIO. All of this, because of gifts from individuals like yourself. Now that’s pretty cool.

Ohio Athletics is thankful for the support of all of its donors! We hope you’ll consider giving a gift and help support Ohio Athletics in its mission.

ATHLETIC DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE JIM SCHAUS

Why is annual giving to the Ohio Bobcat Club so important? Gifts to the Ohio Bobcat Club are used to manage the most vital needs of our athletic programs and student-athletes. THE MISSION OF OHIO ATHLETICS IS TO SUCCESSFULLY DEVELOP THE STUDENT-ATHLETE AS A PERSON, STUDENT AND ATHLETE. WHILE OPERATING WITH THE UTMOST INTEGRITY, ATHLETICS CONTRIBUTES TO THE UNIVERSITY BY ACHIEVING ATHLETICALLY AND ACADEMICALLY, GENERATING VISIBILITY, PROMOTING INSTITUTIONAL PRIDE, ENHANCING CAMPUS LIFE AND SERVING AS A CONNECTION WITH ALUMNI AND FANS.

The softball team went 40-17 overall and 20-3 in Mid-American Conference play in route to clinching its first conference regular season championship since 1995. The No. 1-seeded Bobcats went a perfect 4-0 in the league tournament and clinched the program’s second MAC tournament title in the last five years with a 2-0 win over Northern Illinois in the championship game. As the MAC’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, Ohio advanced to the Knoxville Regional. The Bobcats earned the program’s first-ever regional win with a 4-0 victory over Monmouth, then advanced to the regional final with a 7-3 win over Monmouth. Senior pitcher Danielle Stiene was named the MAC Pitcher of the Year and was joined on the NFCA All-Mideast Region First Team by junior third baseman Alex Day. Redshirt junior outfielder Michaela Dorsey was named to the NFCA All-Mideast Region Third Team.

A YEARinreview

Junior first baseman Rudy Rott of the baseball team was named the 2018 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, becoming the third Bobcat to ever receive the award.

The football team won nine games for the second year in a row and earned its second-straight bowl win with a 27-0 victory over San Diego State in the 2018 DXL Frisco Bowl. The Bobcats became the first Mid-American Conference team to record a shutout in a bowl game. Nine student-athletes earned All-Mid-American Conference recognition, with redshirt senior offensive lineman Joe Anderson, redshirt junior punter/kicker Michael Farkas, redshirt junior defensive back Javon Hagan, redshirt senior offensive lineman Joe Lowery, redshirt senior running back A.J. Ouellette and redshirt senior wide receiver Papi White all being named to the First Team.

The soccer team went 6-3-2 in Mid-American Conference play, allowing the Bobcats to clinch the No. 4 seed in the league tournament. Ohio earned a 2-1 win over No. 5-seeded Kent State in the quarterfinals, advancing the Bobcats to the conference semifinals for the first time since 2004.

Men’s cross country senior Josh Park won the 2018 Mid-American Conference Championship with a time of 24:08.8. He became the first individual MAC champion for Ohio since Josh Ritchie in 1996 and only the fourth since 1965.

Sophomore men’s golfer Zach Crawford earned his first collegiate victory, winning the Firestone Invitational by three strokes with a total score of 206 (-10) – the second-best three round total in program history.

The field hockey team dominated Ball State in the 2018 MAC Championship Quarterfinal, 4-0.

The men’s basketball team posted wins over three 2018 NCAA Tournament qualifiers at the Convo during non-conference play, beating Iona, Marshall and Radford.
