Bekaert Corporation only US domestic PC strand manufacturer with Class A galvanized capabilities
Bekaert Corporation announces that they have added Class A galvanized pre-stressed steel strand (PC Strand) to
their product portfolio at the Van Buren, AR manufacturing plant. This makes Bekaert the only domestic
manufacturer in the United States to produce Class A galvanized PC Strand.
Bekaert’s PC Strand products are used in various markets and applications including:
- Road and bridge construction: concrete reinforcement, bridge piles and caps, I support beams, hybrid
composite beams, girders, stay cables, suspension bridges, highway viaducts, aqueducts
- Commercial construction: multi-level parking garages, waste-treatment structures, hollow core slabs,
beams, TT-slabs, railway sleepers, hangars, stadiums, high-rise buildings, high pressure water pipes, and
other commercial structures
- Residential construction: Silos, pier construction, deck construction
- Roof and rib wall reinforcement cables for coal and hard rock mining
- Off-shore applications
Bekaert recognizes the growing demand for sustainable reinforcement products in the US market. Their
addition of new PC Strand capabilities can adeptly fill that need.
Bekaert manufactures PC strand with 0.5”, 0.6”, and 0.7” diameters available in 270 KSI. All sizes of the seven-wire
low-relaxation PC Strand conforms to the requirements for ASTM A416. All PC Strand has passed the ASTM E328
for 1,000 hour relaxation test and are ASTM A1081 bond test certified. Bekaert offers PC Strand with different
coating specifications starting at a minimum of 190g/m2 and now, with their new capabilities, up to Class A
galvanized of 275 g/m2 (0.90 oz/ft
2 minimum) per ASTM A475. All PC Strand sizes can be ordered in Commercial
grade or USA Made and Melt.
