“Treasure”

Episode 3

When we treasure something we care for it like treasure! God wants us

to care for other people like treasure.

”Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also the

interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 2:4, 5

Paul is writing to a church in a place named Philippi. In chapter 2 Paul

is talking about what Jesus would do and how Jesus would act. In

verses 4 and 5, Paul shares with us how we can show others we

treasure them.

LEARN IT

Most people are only concerned with their own needs and often forget

about others around them.

LINK IT

God treasures everyone, so we should treasure everyone. We need to

put on a Jesus dude attitude and see others as God sees them – as

incredibly important people.

LIVE IT

Three ways you can treasure someone else are: being friendly, being

courteous, and being helpful.

COMPASS POINT

Put your wants on the shelf, and treasure others over yourself.

MEMORY MAX

Matthew 6:21 “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

What does treasuring others feel like?

RECALL a time when someone really made you feel special. Share with your group what that person did and the impact it made in your life.

ASK “Why does it make us feel so good when others treasure us?”

What does treasuring others look like?

Look up Philippians 2:4, 5. As a group list the actions Paul says we should not do. List the actions Paul says we should do.

BRAINSTORM words that might describe someone who treasures another person. See if you can list more than 10.

How can I show others I care for them?

PICTURE IT: Write down one thing your group will commit to do this week to show others they treasure them.

REVIEW this week’s Memory Max (with the hand motions)“Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”Matthew 6:21
