Established in 1950, Beijing Technology and Business University (BTBU) is a key university run by Beijing Municipal Government, it is a teaching-research style university with strength in food science and business management. It provides comprehensive bachelor and master programs covering Economics, Management, Engineering, Sciences, Arts, Law, History and Philosophy. Doctoral program in Accounting and Finance is provided jointly with Central University of Finance and Economics of China. Doctoral program in Food Science and Technology will start in about 2013. BTBU is now developing fast and becoming one of the leading universities of Beijing.
There are 11 schools and 1 department in BTBU providing 1 doctoral program, 35 master programs, and 47 undergraduate programs. There are 1338 staff and faculty members, including 822 full-time faculties. There are some 12000 full-time undergraduate students, 3888 part-time undergraduate, 1809 full-time postgraduate and 15 full-time doctoral students studying in its two campuses in 2012. About 200 overseas students from Finland, France, Ireland, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States study here in 2012.

Research is one of the key responsibility of BTBU faculty. In last five years, professors in different disciplines have finished 57 projects funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China and National Social Science Foundation of China, 28 nation-level projects funded by Ministry of Science and Technology of China, and nearly 300 provincial and ministerial level research projects. All of the finished projects have been applied to practice, some are highly regarded, one project won second prize of the State Technological Invention Award of China, three projects were awarded second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award of China, some 30 projects won provincial or ministerial level prizes awarded by Beijing Municipality, Ministry of Education, etc.. The number of prizes awarded shows the rapid development of strength in research in last five years and indicates the progress of BTBU which is now one of the top universities in China in related disciplines.

In 2012, there are a total of 1338 staff and faculty members in BTBU, and 822 of them are full-time faculties, among them, there are 128 professors, 339 associate professors and lecturers, about 50% of these full- time faculties hold doctor degrees. There are 3 world-known scientists in BTBU, they are academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 8 famous professors enjoy Special Government Allowance from the State Council, 2 teachers are awarded the title of China’s Excellent Teachers, 6 Famous University Teachers of Beijing, 4 Excellent Teachers of Beijing, 125 Excellent Young and Middle-aged Teachers of Beijing, and 11 Excellent Academic Innovation Teams of Beijing.

Campus and Life
Students’ life at BTBU is colorful and rich. The Student Union welcomes your involvement, it helps to make the students’ time on campus valuable and enjoyable. There are also a range of clubs and societies for students to choose to explore and develop their individual hobbies and interests. What’s more, overseas students can find funs by mixing with local students from China and students from other different countries and regions.
On the campus, there will be various activities such as Science and Technology Festival, Sports and Cultural Festival, New Year’s Party, etc.. All of these activities enrich the students’ campus life and develop their comprehensive qualities. Overseas students will have opportunities to be involved deeply in voluntary activities hence to have direct communication with various local Chinese people.

BTBU shares very good relationships and cooperation with more than 75 top universities in countries and regions such as Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States, etc..
BTBU will be consistently devoted to collaborations with its international partner universities. Encouraged by the ambitious vision of the university, BTBU welcomes various forms of cooperation, such as joint schools, joint programs, joint researches, exchange of students and faculty, international academic conferences, seminars, teacher trainings, business trainings, and joint applications for projects provided by governments and multinational organizations.
