Behind The Scenes: Film, Television & Media Apprenticeship Program is an interac-tive training program for media students. With hands-on training from leading industry ex-perts, students gain practical experience in the fields of film, television and media. From learning the “ins”and “outs” of pre-production, video production, post production and mar-keting, participants get the chance to explore the many career opportunities in the enter-tainment industry. Not only do students gain practical knowledge and direct insight in their area of choice, they are also given a chance to tap into their creativity and lift their esteem, motivating them to pursue their dreams.

This engaging program empowers participants and gives them hope. Illuminating course material taught in school, it brings the curriculum to life! This process boosts confidence and inspires students to pursue higher goals. One of the key components of this program is access. Students are able to engage with premier industry contacts that can lead to fur-ther opportunities such as internships and paid jobs in the industry.

Our Partnership/ Affiliated Facilities & Media OutletsCatscape Productions is a proud partner of the VIP School Empowerment Coalition. It is a leading, full-service production studio owned by Emmy Award winning journalist/producer, Cath-leen Trigg. Catscape, which is conveniently located in midtown Manhattan, is equipped with two Tricasters, a green screen studio, full-time/full service, post production suite and a podcasting/au-dio studio. It is the headquarters where students will meet and be paired with production staff for training.Through Catscape Productions students will have opportunities to study & train out several part-nering facilities & media outlets. These entities include: Bravo Studios, SiriusXM, Uptown Maga-zine, Essence Magazine, iOne Media/Digital, BumpOut, In Tune Magazine, Wild Child Content, Sophie Elgort Studio and more. These strategic partnerships allow students access to many op-portunities in the media industry.

Practical Training Includes:

Pre-ProductionPre-production is the process of planning some of the elements involved in a film, play, or other performance. There are three parts in a production: pre-production, production, and post-pro-duction. Pre-production ends when the planning ends and the content starts being produced.

- Storyboards- Script writing- Shot lists- Call sheets- Location scouting

Video ProductionVideo production is the process of creating video by capturing moving images (videography), and creating combinations and reductions of parts of this video in live production and post-pro-duction (video editing).

- Commercials- TV shows- Documentary films- Public relations videos- Online/Digital- Branded content

Practical Training Cont’d:

Post ProductionPost-production is part of the process of filmmaking, video pro-duction, radio production and photography. Post-production includes all stages of production occurring after shooting or re-cording individual program segments.

MarketingMarketing is the business process of creating relationships with and satisfying customers. With its focus on the customer, mar-keting is one of the premier components of business manage-ment.

How the Program Works?Behind the Scenes is a four month program where students meet once a week for two hours. Based on their skill set assessment and current school curriculum, students are paired with industry professionals for hands on training. In addition to watching and taking apart of day-to-day studio activities, students will take part in monthly group workshops where they will meet successful industry professionals who will share their stories, mentor the partici-pants and expose them to the many possibilities in the world of entertainment. The program also includes a group project where students will get a chance to display the skills they ac-quired with school leaders, industry experts and their fellow students. This opportunity will give students exposure to be recognized and rewarded by notable industry executives.

Who can participate?Any student who displays talent and interest in media, film or television. Each student will be evaluated and placed according to his or her proficiency and interest.

Do we do in school training?Yes, we do in school training upon request. Based on the current curriculum that students are taught our teams helps increase engagement and expose students to the many opportu-nities available in entertainment.
