• Classroom procedures is framework for student and teacher working together cooperatively.

Evertson and Harris (1991) offer eight guidelines for classroom rules:

• Consistent with school rules• Understandable• Doable• Manageable• Always applicable • Stated positely• Stated behaviourally• Consistent with teachers own philosophy of how student learn best.

Importance of Classroom routines and procedures

• When routines and procedures are carefully taught, modeled, and established in the classroom, children know what’s expected of them and how to do certain things on their own.

• Having these predictable patterns in place allows teachers to spend more time in meaningful instruction.
