Beginning is the first step to the End. I did the first step to Al Ain Hospital in 2009 and today I end up my service. I spent beautiful 5+ years in the Garden City. I experienced a superb settlement, an exceptional country. Made good friends, had the opportunity to have fabulous colleagues and got to know remarkable people. During my work I hope I left lots of positive footprints behind. You will perhaps remember me as you receive a Trauma Team activation call and SMS… If there were also negatives (and I am afraid, there were), I apologize. I believe I helped lots of patients. And could bring new views into trauma care, establish new surgical procedures. If these changed at least a little bit the way of thinking and habits of some colleagues, I can leave the hospital satisfied. I leave Al Ain, the Hospital, with a smiling and weeping eye: smiling, since I return to my university in Vienna, weeping, because I leave all this beauty, friends and colleagues behind.
