Non-Objective Line Sculpture Project requirements: Process OVER Product Student planned and created 20+ line patterns in their sketchbook Drawing is non-objective and shows attention to detail Drawings incorporate 20 different line based patterns Sculpture is free standing, non-objective and min. 6” in height Shows unity through repetition of color and shape. 3): Interior Wire Sculpture: Project Requirements: Use uncut line to create a freestanding box with a subject. (End of Quarter) Sketchbook: Plan sculpture using architecture diagrams to determine your wire supply (6 feet max) Students will draw and submit three plans for their wire before receiving wire. They must consider: Final Measurements Construction Interior content (3 minimum) Form, Space and Emphasis Final Sculpture: Create Free-standing Wire Sculpture in the shape of a box, with 3 interior objects, exploring the art principle: Emphasis, Wire may not be cut, students must solve the problem of the wire in line. 4.) Color Slot Sculpture: Project Requirements: Create a Slotted sculpture exploring color relationships Sketchbook: Students will draw color plans for each side of their slotted sculpture and submit plans for approval. Final Sculpture: Create Free-standing Slotted Sculpture exploring Josef Albers color studies Slotted format for each side (Construction) Color Relationships (5 different schemes, minimum) Color Placement (Neighbors/Scale) All sides and angles of the sculpture (Details) Scale as it pertains to final look of sculpture, Precision (Painting and Slot Construction) 5.) Organic Subtraction Sculpture: Project Requirements: Subtract from a Foam Block using carving methods to explore organic shape and unity in the style of Ra Paulette and/or Ann Weber Sketchbook: Students draw construction/color plans for each side of their organic subtraction sculpture and submit plans for approval. Final Sculpture: Freestanding and well constructed Should be one complete form with Base Organic shape and unity with Paulette/Weber influence apparent Monochromatic color scheme to complete ALL sides final sculpture 6.) Rhythm Paper Mache: Project Requirements: Create Paper Mache Sculpture exploring pattern/ rhythm using color/shape to show Gilliam’s influence. Sketchbook: Students will pick a piece of music and draw black and white construction plans for each side of their Rhythm sculpture and submit plans for approval. Required: Cardboard and foam core sketchbook plan construction Sketchbook Color Plan : Required: A 3 color palette Final Project: Required: Sturdy Paper Mache’ and covered newsprint. Construction: gesso, and paint sculpture from ALL Angles

First Project Spring Semester: OP Art: Project Requirements: Plan and create an art sculpture with kinetic (visual) movement in the style of OP art Sketchbook: Plan design of the sculpture Draw sculpture with design in both black/white and color Final Project: Paint repeating design with TWO Contrasting colors Sculpture is complete from all sides Sculpture has detail and precision Create Op Art Sculpture with kinetic movement

Modular Repetition Sculpture: Project Requirements: Explore creating a sculpture from mass amounts of the same object. Sketchbook: Ideation: Thumbnail ideas Complete a full plan of the final sculpture with modular units included Details with measurements for final construction Full Study with approval to move to final project Final Art work: Uniformity in the construction of modular units Form- Sculpture design and construction Effort- Took time to develop idea & complete project

Craftsmanship- Neat, clean & complete

Wire Balance Sculpture: Project Requirements: Plan and create balance sculpture with actual movement in the style of Calder. (End of Quarter) Sketchbook: Plan design of the sculpture. Consider: Wire structure, Color, Shape & Balance Final Project: Stable is balanced and well structured Shape Disks are in the style of Calder and well painted No paint strokes present: shape disks & rock Sculpture armatures are balanced from all sides Sculpture has detail and precision (stable, wire, paint, balance) Sculpture has actual kinetic movement

Embossed Funk Face: Project Requirements: Complete Portrait in full color with emotion and self expression in the style of CA Funk Art Sketchbook:Full Page, Full Color Study to prepare for foil medium Final Project: Complete a relief “Funk Face” in Metal Tooling Foil Embossing Use of full sheet of Tooling Fool and Full Color Face in accurate proportion with relief based on class discussions Funk Influences: Self expression, emotional message & bold color Mounted on foam and free-standing

Graffiti Plaster Hands: Project Requirements: explore street art and a message to graffiti a symbol Sketchbook: Students will complete a life size representation of their hand as a drawing. Their drawing should include the hand gesture, one symbol and a social/cultural message through color and symbols (Iconography) Student will finish their drawing using one stencil, oil pastels, baby oil and air brush Final Project: Create a mold of your hand gesture in plaster Using oil pastels and baby oil add pictures and symbols that represent you/your message as an artist. Using knowledge gained from the year, address several principles of art: Balance, Scale, Rhythm, Unity, Movement, Emphasis, Contrast, Pattern Must include three stencils
