Before you start:Warning: this game is very fast paced. It may take one ortwo complete games to become familiar with the gamerules, especially when playing under the time pressure ofthe CD. Don’t worry! As the rules become second nature, you will find it easier to keep up to the fast tempo of thegame. Our recommendation is that you keep the CD playernear you so you can easily press “pause” if you need to stopthe music to clarify the rules of play.

Write each player’s name on the top of the score pad.

Shuffle and deal the Fart cards according to the number of players as follows:

3 players - deal 8 cards to each player4 players - deal 7 cards to each player5 players - deal 6 cards to each player6 players - deal 5 cards to each player

Place the remainder of the cards face down in the center of the table, and turn over the top card to form a separatediscard pile. If you turn over a “Gas Mask” card or “Pass theWind” card, put it back into the draw pile and turn over anew card for the discard pile.

The CD paces the game, and requires players to take certainactions. Insert the CD into your CD player, and listen to tracks1 to 3. These first 3 short tracks are provided to help playersidentify and learn the 3 special fart sounds. You will needto commit these farts to memory because you will hearthem at random throughout the game, and must performcertain actions every time they are heard. The player who isaffected by the fart sound is the player due to play a cardimmediately after the full sound effect has been completed.

The three fart sounds are:

Wet Fart (track 1) - Change DirectionsIf it’s your turn after this fart is heard, you may change thedirection of play. Play a card on the discard pile or pick up acard from the draw pile, and yell “CHANGE” if you want theplay to reverse directions, or yell “CARRY ON” if you wantthe play to continue in the same direction.

Pant Explosion (track 2) - Next Player 2-Card Penalty

If it’s your turn after this fart is heard, you must take 2 cardsfrom the draw pile as a penalty. You may place a card onthe discard pile after you have taken your penalty cards. Ifyou cannot place a card on the discard pile, simply say “go”and the next player takes his/her turn.

Windy Miller (track 3) - Swap HandsIf it’s your turn after this fart is heard, you must swap your whole hand with the player whose turn it was beforeyou. Exchange hands as quickly as possible. You both will continue to play with completely new cards. You may placea card on the discard pile after you have swapped cards. Ifyou cannot place a card on the discard pile, you must grabanother card from the draw pile.

Play tracks 1 to 3 several times in order to familiarize yourselves with the 3 fart sounds.

Object of the game:To be the first player to play out all the Fart cards from your hand.

Contents:55 Fart cards; fart effects CD; score pad; pencil

Playing the game:

Skip to track 4 on the CD once all players can easily identifythe different fart sounds. The player to the left of the dealerstarts the game by yelling “LET ‘ER RIP” and hitting the playbutton of the CD player. Play starts with the player to thedealer’s left, who either lays down (if possible) one or morecards onto the discard pile, or takes a card from the drawpile. Players may discard either all cards of the same farttype, or one card of the same color.

Example: if the red “Silent but Deadly” card is on the top of the discard pile, you can discard any single red card or all the “Silent but Deadly” cards you hold in your hand.

Play continues clockwise in this manner, until a playerelects to change direction after hearing a Wet Fart. If youcannot play a card on your turn, you must pick up one cardfrom the draw pile. If this new card can be added to thediscard pile, you may do so. However, if the new cardcannot be played, you should say “GO” to let the next player know it is his/her turn.

During a game, if the cards in the draw pile have all beenpicked up, press “pause” on the CD player.Turn the discardpile over to form the new draw pile, leaving the top cardwhere it is to form the new discard pile. Restart the gameby pressing “play” on the CD player.

Last Fart:

The moment you discard your second last card, you mustyell “LAST FART”. Failure to do so before the next playercompletes his/her turn means you must pick up 5 penalty

Pass the Wind cards:

One or more “Pass the Wind” cards can be played onto any card in the discard pile on your turn. The next player is required to pick up three penalty cards for each“Pass the Wind” card played… unless he/she can play one of the following:

(i) “Gas Mask” cards can cancel out the effect of “Pass theWind” cards. Each “Gas Mask” card reduces the penalty bythree cards.

(ii) Additional “Pass the Wind” cards increase the penalty by an additional three cards, and the cumulative penalty is passed on to the next player.

Example: if player one lays down 2 “Pass the Wind”cards, then player two lays down 1 “Pass the Wind” card,

followed by player three who lays down 1 “Gas Mask”card, then player three collects 6 penalty cards from thedraw pile.

Player three continues by placing any one card of his/herchoice on the discard pile after collecting the penalty cards.

Note: if the player collects another “Pass the Wind”card whilecollecting the penalty cards, and decides it is a good timeto play this card, the next player only picks up three cards.

We recommend that when there are a lot of penalty cardsto be collected, someone press “pause” on the CD player. This way, no new fart sounds will be heard while someoneis trying to count out penalty cards. To restart the game, press “play” on the CD player.

Note that “Gas Mask” cards may only be discarded aftersomeone has played a “Pass the Wind” card. The onlyexception to this rule is if the only cards remaining in your hand are “Gas Mask” cards. In this case, you are free to discard all your remaining “Gas Mask” cards to end thegame.

cards from the draw pile. Because it is now someone else’sturn, the penalized player cannot throw a card onto thediscard pile after collecting the penalty cards.

Mistakes:

You certainly need to concentrate to win! However, mistakes do happen. Anyone who makes a mistake of anykind (e.g. not realizing direction of play has changed; layingdown an incorrect card; etc.) must pick up 5 penalty cardsfrom the draw pile.

If players need to discuss the mistake, someone shouldpress “pause” on the CD player. This way, no new fart

sounds will be heard while the players try to sort out what went wrong. To restart the game, press “play” on the CD player after the player who made the mistake has collected his/her 5 penalty cards.

This player may place a card on the discard pile aftercollecting the penalty cards. However, if a card cannot be discarded, the penalized player should simply say “go” and the next player takes his/her turn.

The 5-second rule:

If players take longer than 5 seconds to take their turn, they must pick up 2 penalty cards.

Once again, the penalized player may place a card on thediscard pile after collecting the penalty cards. However, if a card cannot be discarded, the penalized player shouldsimply say “go” and the next player takes his/her turn.

Scoring:

The first player to successfully play all his/her cards is thewinner of the round. An official Fart game is actually anintense ten-round contest. Record the number of cardsremaining in all players’ hands under their names on thescore pad.

Winning the game:

The player with the lowest point total after ten rounds is the winner.

Spontaneous farting:

Any player who lets rip with a genuine no-money-back-guarantee fart during the course of the game should stand up to perform it. If the event can be confirmed by either the ears or the nose of the adjacent players, the performer is free toimmediately discard any one card from his/her hand. The player who was about to take a turn must continue play accordingto the discard. Just remember, a well-timed fart placed just after you yell “LAST FART” can win you the game, so it may bewise to try to hold it for the most opportune moment.
