From Supplies to Own Russian Production
ADL Company launched the production of the brand new BEEVAL® steel ball valves. The production facilities were deployed at ADL's pro-duction site in the Raduzhniy settlement (the Moscow region).
BEEVAL® steel ball valve is an ideal solution for heating, gas sup-ply and industrial applications due to its reliability, easy operation and durability.
The product range features BEEVAL® steel ball valves with DN 15–1,200 and PN 1.6 / 2.5 / 4.0. Available connections: welded, flanged, thread and combined options. BEEVAL® steel ball valves with stem extension for channel-free laying are also available.
BEEVAL® steel ball valves come with the carbon steel body and the ball, one of the most critical structural components, in stainless steel. Fine surface finish (0.1 m) reduces wear of the O-rings and extends the service life of the ball valve.
The seat seal also has a significant effect on reliability and service life of the ball valve. The ball valves for heating applications come with 20% carbon-filled PTFE seals. 20% carbon content ensures high thermal resistance (up to 200оС) and durability of the seat seal. Under proper operating conditions, the design service life of the ball valve is 25 years.
The springs used to tightly press the seat seal against the ball guar-antee the leakage class A of BEEVAL® steel ball valve throughout its service life.
Apparent Advantages
As for the production of BEEVAL® steel ball valves, the following important points shall be highlighted.
Full automation of the production line featuring cutting-edge CNC machines, test and welding machines eliminates the human factor effects on quality of BEEVAL® steel ball valves.
Carbon steel BEEVAL® ball valves are also available in a special cold resistant version (for ambient temperatures down to –60оС) suitable for historically cold Russian regions. The combination of European ball and seat seal and domestic components guarantees high quality of the products at a moderate price.
In addition, BEEVAL® steel ball valves are subject to 100% quality control through water testing (to check the structural strength and tight-ness) and air testing (to check the tightness of the seat seal).
After the tests, defect-free BEEVAL® steel ball valves are delivered to the packaging workshop to add nameplates and detailed passports (specifications).
BEEVAL® steel ball valves also come with pre-adjusted and pre-tested pneumatic and electric actuators. After mounting the actuator, the ball valves are subject to the additional functional test.
BEEVAL® Steel Ball Valves for Today's Heating Networks
According to the information of the Association of Industrial Polymer Insulated Pipe Manufacturers and Consumers, the underground laying of heating networks with mineral wool insulation is a traditional Russian practice. By contrast, the channel-free laying of heating network pipes equipped with PUF insulation has been successfully implemented since the 1960s across the globe, especially in Europe. Over the last decade this technology has become more popular in Russia due to 2–3 fold increase in service life of pipelines, at least 3 fold reduction of heat losses (the traditional laying method results in 20–30% heat losses) and decrease in operating and capital expenses by 9 and 1.5 times respectively.
Taking into account the needs and trends of this market, ADL offers special steel ball valves for channel-free laying of heating networks. The valves come with stem extension of up to 5 m to allow for further installation of PUF insulation. The implementation of the stem extension operation at the domestic production facilities reduced the delivery time down to one week.

BEEVAL® Full Bore Ball Valves, DN 350–500 mm - Design Features
1) Optimized Opening and Closing Torque
Self-lubricating stem bearings, stem and ball seals with a low friction coefficient ensure minimum opening and closing torques throughout the service life of the ball valve.
2) Double Compression Sealing
Metal seal and polymer O-ring ensure tightness of the ball in either flow direction.Under low and high pressure, the seals will be pressed against the ball by the springs or operating fluid, respec-tively. 5) Ball Valve Anti-Static Design
A special design enabling electric conductivity between the ball, stem and housing prevents sparking throughout the opening and closing cycle of the valve.
4) Stem and Seat Seal Emergency Sealing
In the event of any emergency caused by damage or deterioration of the seat seal and/or O-rings of the stem, the injection of the sealant will temporarily prevent leak-age of fluid or gas from the valve stem or ball until the fault is eliminated.
3) Fire-Proof Configuration
Two O-rings and graphite gasket are used to seal the valve stem. In case of any damage to the O-rings caused as a result of exposure to high temperatures, the graphite gasket will prevent leakage of fluids or gas. In case of any damage to the seat seal, the tightness of the ball valve will be guaranteed by the metal-to-metal ball seal.

BEEVAL® Full Bore Ball Valves, DN 350–500 mm - Design Features
7) Double Block and Bleed (DBB) System
Drain and vent plugs in the valve body enable draining and venting of the valve in the open and closed positions, as well as continuous monitoring of the seat seal status. Upon request, the drain plug may be replaced with a bleed valve or pressure gauge.
9) Double Seat Seal System (Upon Request)
Double seat seal system will prevent leakage from the ball valve in case of any damage to the inlet seal. The operating fluid penetrates into the ball valve and presses the outlet seal against the ball.
6) Overpressure Relief
This optional configuration of the seat seals is available upon request. The automatic bleeding into pipeline will prevent damage to the valve and discharge of the operat-ing fluid into the atmosphere.
8) Customized Seat Seal Materials (Polymer Insert)
Customized seat seal configurations are available upon request to meet project-specific operating conditions.
10) Stem Dropping Out Protection and Replacement Seals
A special design prevents dropping out of the stem (the diameter of the lower part of the stem is higher than the diameter of the upper part).The stem seal features two O-rings and one graphite ring locked by the upper connection flange. To replace the stem seal, put the valve in the closed position.

BEEVAL® Steel Ball Valves. Installation and Operation
Installation and Operation Precautions
1. Installation and maintenance works must only be carried out by skilled personnel.
2. Valve handle, reducing gear handwheel, electric or pneumatic actuator components shall never be used to attach the ball valve to mechanical lifting equipment for lifting and/or moving the ball valve. To mount the ball valve use the stem housing (for valve of up to DN 200 mm), connecting ends and flanges to attach the lifting device.
To handle and mount ball valves with DN exceeding 200 mm for above-ground applications use the eye bolts on the valve body. Any handling and mounting operations shall be carried out in compliance with the applicable regulations. Never use the stem housing to list the ball valves with DN exceeding 200 mm.
3. BEEVAL® steel ball valves are not intended for con-trol applications.
4. The operating fluid for BEEVAL® steel ball valves shall meet the parameters specified in this catalogue and operation manuals. Never use BEEVAL® steel ball valves for steam applications.
Handling and Mounting Instructions
1. Make sure that the ball valve is open. During mounting operations, keep the BEEVAL® steel ball valve in the "FULLY OPEN" position.
2. Remove any foreign objects and dirt (if any) entered inside the valve during transportation and/or storage.
3. To install BEEVAL® steel ball valves with welded ends in the pipeline the arc or gas welding operations shall be carried out in compliance with the applicable industrial safety rules and regulations (in particular, PB 12-529-03). Remove dirt and rust from the pipe ends to ensure high quality of the welds.
4. Care should be taken to avoid overheating of the valve body during welding operations. If necessary, use wet reg to cool down the valve body. Before opening or closing the valve wait until it cools down completely.
5. Never reduce the face-to-face length of the welded ball valve to avoid overheating of the ball seal during installation in the pipeline.
6. Before mounting the threaded-end ball valve check the thread of the valve and mating end of the pipeline. No dents, nicks or burrs impeding the free mounting of the ball valve are allowed. Never use non-standard tools to screw the ball valve on.
7. Before mounting the flanged-end ball valve, check the sealing faces of the flanges. No dents, cavities, burrs or other surface defects are allowed. Tighten the bolts around the flange perimeter with equal torque.
8. The paint coating protects the ball valve against moisture. No additional coating is required after instal-lation.
9. In case of operation under high humidity condi-tions, outdoors or in underground systems, care shall be taken to protect the valve body and stem against corro-sion resulted from the exposure to ambient environment.
10. The installation of the steel ball valve in the pro-cess line shall be carried out in compliance with the cus-tomer's specifications and with account of RF industrial safety regulations, rules and standards.
11. Ball valves must be closed and opened smoothly to prevent hydraulic shock.

1.1 Before mounting the reducing gear, check the stem head of the ball valve, sealing faces and mounting holes of the flanges and mating part of the reducing gear. No dirt or burrs are allowed.
1.2 Install the ball valve in the OPEN position. In this position, the position indicator mark on the stem head or imaginary line connect-ing keys on the stem head shall run along the longitudinal axis of the ball valve.
1.3 Put the reducing gear in the OPEN position with its position indicator pointing at the OPEN position (see Fig.1).
1.4 Install the coupler into the reducing gear.1.5 Install the ball valve with its stem in vertical position.
1.6 Apply a thin layer of oil (or other lubricant) on the valve stem to facilitate the connection process.
1.7 Install the reducing gear with the position indicator in the OPEN position running along the longitudinal axis of the valve. Care shall be taken to align the reducing gear with the mating flange of the valve. Make sure that the key remains in the groove of the valve stem. If necessary, apply any grease beneath the key to keep it in place while mounting the reducing gear.
1.8 Bolt the reducing gear to the mating flange of the valve in a crisscross pattern for a better fit.
1.9 Perform open/close test to check the valve.
