BECS installation guide

The BECS installation guide will help you install BECS on your computer, guiding you through the BECS

installation step by step. Depending on your hardware configuration, the whole installation process of

BECS will take about 30 minutes.

BECS Integrator Server and BECS Visual Architect requirements

BECS Integration Server hardware minimal requirements:

Processor: Intel Pentium 5 or higher (or equivalent from other vendors), at 2GHz or more, x86 or x64

platform

RAM: 4GB RAM

Disk space (SW installation): 500MB minimum

Disk space (application data): 10GB

Network: LAN Ethernet 100MB/s or faster

BECS Integration Server software requirements:

Operating system: Windows Server 2008/2008 R2/2012/2016 (x86 or x64 versions)

Other requirements: Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 (full profile) or higher including this, Internet

Information Services 6.0 or higher (depending on OS version) with ASP.NET 4.0, Microsoft Message

Queuing Service (part of the Windows Server installation, not installed by default), Microsoft Windows

Installer 4.5 or higher

System database: Microsoft SQL Server 2008, 2008 R2, 2012 or higher (can be on different machine)

SAP (only if planned to connect): SAP GUI 7.20 or higher librfc32.dll installation required Development

Tools (Unicode RFC Libraries) installation required

Oracle (only if planned to connect): Oracle ODAC 11.2.0.1.2 with ODP.NET installed

BECS Visual Architect hardware minimal requirements:

versions), Windows Server 2008/2008 R2/2012/2016 (x86 or x64 versions)

Other requirements: Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 (full profile) or higher including this, Microsoft

Message Queuing Service (part of the Windows Server installation, not installed by default), Microsoft

Windows Installer 4.5 or higher

Designer environment: Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Integrated Shell (part of the EP installation),

Microsoft Visual Studio DSL package (part of the EP installation), Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 SDK (part

of the EP installation)



SAP (only if planned to connect): SAP GUI 7.20 or higher librfc32.dll installation required, Development

Tools (Unicode RFC Libraries) installation required

Oracle (only if planned to connect): Oracle ODAC 11.2.0.1.2 with ODP.NET installed

This guide assumes a working internet connection is available. Please, check that your system meets the

minimum requirements.

Software prerequisites

First of all, you need to have all prerequisites installed. For successful installation of BECS it is necessary

to have installed these prerequisites:

.NET Framework 4.7.2, .NET Framework FX 4.0.

MSMQ (local or remote)

IIS 6 Web Server

MS SQL Server (local or remote instance)

MS SQL Server Management Studio

Microsoft Visual Studio Shell 2010 (Isolated)

Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 SDK

Step 1 – BECS Enterprise Desktop installation

Right-click on “Set up” of BECS Enterprise Desktop (BECS / ED) from BECS installation files and select

“Run as administrator” from the new window.

Click “Next” in BECS Setup Wizard window.



Accept the License Agreement and click “Next”.

Choose “.NET v4.5 Classic” from the Application Pool and click “Next”.



Fill in the target database fields in Database Configuration window (Server, UserId, Password, Database)

and click “Next”.

Confirm the installation by click on “Next”.



Click “Close” when installation finished.

Step 2 – BECS Enterprise Integrator installation

Right-click on “Set up” of BECS Enterprise Integrator (BECS / EI) from BECS installation files and select

“Run as administrator” from the new window.



Click “Next” in BECS Integrator 5 Setup Wizard window.




Select the target folder for BECS EI installation, choose “Everyone” and click “Next”.

Fill in the fields in BECS Integrator Management Configuration window (Management URI, Management

Login, Management Password) and click “Next”.



Fill in the fields in Integrator Configuration window (Instance, TCP Port, MSMQ Format Name) and click

“Next”.




Click “Close” when installation finished.

Step 3 – BECS Visual Architect installation

Right-click on “Set up” of BECS Visual Architect (BECS / VA) from BECS installation files and select “Run

as administrator” from the new window.



Click “Next” in BECS Visual Architect 5 Setup Wizard window.




Select the target folder for BECS VA installation, choose “Everyone” and click “Next”.




Choose from the options of Product Activation Wizard window and click “Next”.

Enter your SELECT Server information, click “Next” and follow the instructions to complete the Product

Activation Wizard.



Close the installation window by click on “Close”.

Step 4 – BECS Scheduler installation

Select “Service” folder of BECS Scheduler (BECS / SC) from BECS installation files.



Right-click on “Set up” of BECS Scheduler Service (BECS / SC / Service) from BECS installation files and

select “Run as administrator” from the new window.

Click “Next” in BECS Scheduler 5 Setup Wizard window.




Select the target folder for BECS Scheduler installation, choose “Everyone” and click “Next”.



Insert the configuration parameters for an existing MS SQL Database (Server, Database, User ID,

Password) in Database Configuration window, then click “Next”.




Close the window after the installation completed.

Select “Management” folder of BECS Scheduler (BECS / SC) from BECS installation files.



Right-click on “Set up” of BECS Scheduler Management (BECS / SC / Management) from BECS installation

files and select “Run as administrator” from the new window.

Click “Next” in BECS Scheduler Management Setup Wizard window.




Select the target folder for BECS Scheduler installation, choose “Everyone” and click “Next”.



Insert the configuration parameters for an existing MS SQL Database (Server, Database, User ID,

Password) in Database Configuration window, then click “Next”.




Close the window after the installation completed.

Step 5 – BECS Scheduler and BECS Integrator Services check

Let’s check the services for BECS Scheduler and BECS Integrator. Open the Services window.



Start the service for BECS Scheduler. Select the ACE Scheduler 5 item in the list, then Start the service.

Now the BECS Scheduler service is running.



Start the service for BECS Integrator. Select the ACE Integrator 5 item in the list, then Start the service.

Now the BECS Integrator service is running.



Step 6 – .dll copies for BECS connectors

If standard package of BECS installation file does not include connectors for different type of systems (or

some of them are missing), it is necessary copy .dll files for successful connection with the systems.

Select the needed connector files and copy them.



Find the folder where the connectors are saved (Program Files (x86) / Bentley Enterprise Connection

Services / BECS Visual Architect 5 / Extensions / Application) and paste the selected files.

Choose from the window options.

Click on “Continue” button.



The new files are copied to the BECS VA / Extensions / Application folder.

It is required to copy these files also to the BECS Integrator 5 folder (Program Files (x86) / Bentley

Enterprise Connection Services / BECS Integrator 5).



Choose from the window options.

Click on “Continue” button.

The new files are copied to the BECS VA / Extensions / Application folder.



Step 7 - BECS Enterprise Desktop Check

Let’s check the BECS Enterprise Desktop – type “localhost/becs“ into your web browser and fill in your

login.

Now, you can see the BECS Enterprise Desktop environment.



Step 8 - BECS Visual Architect login

Let’s check the BECS Visual Architect – fill in your login for connection the server.

Now, you can see the BECS Visual Architect environment.
