D ear Parents and Caregivers The terrible and tragic events of 15 March came amidst a review of our own lockdown procedures. A lockdown is what you plan and practice for and hope that you never have to do. This week a test message was sent from our student man- agement system to one of each student s main caregiverss mobile number. This is one way we will communicate with you if we ever have to go into lockdown. We will also post messages on Facebook and our website, and email main caregivers. Later this week we will do an email test to en- sure our emails addresses are being received. Following this test we will be updating error messages and ensuring we have the contact details for both parents/caregivers if appropriate. Please, if you have changed email addresses or mobile numbers since enrolling at Wairau, please let us know as soon as possible. Finally a big thank you to all those who have offered to coach or manage one of our winter sports teams C OLOUR YOUR DAY In collaboration with the Christchurch City Council, 24-7 Youthwork NZ has planned a way of demon- strating love and support for all those who have been im- pacted by the terrible events of 15 March. This Friday, 29 March, we are encouraging all our students and staff to come together for a campaign called Colour Your Day. Students are asked to bring a $2 gold coin and we will wear bright, happy colours and donate the proceeds towards the Mayoral Fund called, Our People, Our City’. Please note that the wearing of red is the least culturally appropriate colour from the perspective of the Muslim community. By wearing bright, happy colours, we will be showing our sup- port for our Muslim communities and the people of Christ- church. S HORE TO SHORE FUN RUN The annual Shore to Shore Fun Run/Walk is on Sun- day 31 March commencing at 9.00am. We will be having a BBQ on Milford Reserve after the run/ walk. Sausages will be free for all participants. This will be a wonderful family day and we look forward to seeing you there! W INTER JACKET ORDERS We have the option of a winter jacket available for purchase and order forms are available at the office. We have samples of sizes 10 and 14, if you wish to look at them. S CHOOL DONATION Many thanks to those families that have already paid the school donation. Many schools charge fees for Technolo-

gy classes, and other activities. We have resisted this trend, but do rely on the donation to help fund the many extra things we offer. Donations are $150.00 per child or $250.00 per family, payable at the school office or via internet banking. If paying by internet banking, please enter “your child’s name, donation”. A receipt will be sent home with your child.

Our school bank account is: 12 3109 0011778 00. Please note that donations made before 31 March 2019 can be claimed as part of your tax return.
