“in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit”).

Mystagogy Stage begins April 13th (Monday night classes from 4/13 to 5/18). During this deeper pondering of

the mysteries we recommend that neophytes join one of the many groups in our parish and take advantage of

our ten adult education programs offered each year.

Expectations:

Prayer. Belief. Life. – Daily prayer will be essential as each person discerns “Why am I becoming Catholic?”

Becoming and being Catholic is a culture, which needs to be known, loved, and lived. It is not creating

community, but rather entering fully into the community of the Blessed Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The Church, which is the Body of Christ, is to be embraced with full, active and conscious participation. We are

called to believe what we pray, and live what we believe. Christ came that we might have life and live it to the

full (John 10:10). RCIA is not just about becoming Catholic, but being, and staying Catholic.

Near perfect attendance – RCIA meets three hours a week and every minute matters.

Sundays 9am – 10:30am (beginning Oct. 26) and Mondays 7:15pm to 8:45pm (beginning Sept. 8).

If you are not able to commit to the three hours weekly please schedule an appointment with the director to

look into self-study options.

Annulments, Convalidation of Civil Marriages, Co-habitation – If you are your spouse has a previous

marriage. If you and your spouse were married outside the Catholic Church. If you are currently co-habitating

but not married. Please make plans to meet with Deacon Larry Sandoval and Tammy Sandoval from 8:45 to

9:30PM on Monday, September 22nd. Your spouse or fiancé will also need to attend that meeting.

Sponsors – Each candidate will need a sponsor. Each catechumen will need a Godparent. Sponsors and

Godparents must be practicing Catholics, who have been confirmed, and if married, the marriage is in good

standing with the Church. A practicing Catholic observes the Precepts of the Church and is in line (believes and

lives) what the Magisterium (bishops and Holy Father) teach. If you are unable to find a sponsor or Godparent,

a member of our team will be happy to sponsor you. Sponsors should attend classes as much as they are able.

1 on 1 meetings - Each candidate and catechumen will meet with Matthew Gill the director for a one on one

meeting. These meetings which take place during the months of January and February allow each person to

ask questions.

Patron Saints – Each person may choose a Confirmation name. This name is the name of a particular Saint,

who the person knows has walked with them on their journey and will continue to pray for and walk with

them as they a fully initiated into the Church.

Format:

Sundays - We meet and sit together at the 9am Mass, we are dismissed after the Liturgy of the Word. We then

meet in Café of the Pius XII Center to discuss our Lectio Divina (Divine Reading) handout, which is given out on

Monday night after class. The discussion includes small group sharing and a short catechesis by the RCIA team.

Mondays – Class is from 7:10 – 8:45pm. For those interested we have chanted Vespers (Evening Prayer) in the

Church at 6pm followed by the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at 6:30pm. We also have a hot dinner served each

Monday at 6:30pm in the Pius XII Center. Vespers and Mass offers each person the chance to encounter the

Liturgy and Tradition of the Church and dinner allows each person a time to enter into community. Please join

us for both as you are able. We end each class with Compline (Night Prayer) in the Pius XII Center. Monday

night classes consist of a video lesson from our pastor, Msgr. Hart, a time of reflection and Q&A followed by

catechesis. We have a team of presenters as well as guest speakers (see schedule inside).
