FRESH STARTIf there’s one trend that everybody can style this season its the neutrals. They work with everything. Your favourite black shirt, that crisp white pleated skirt or your new neon jumper. Season after season we covet Celine so try your hand at making some of your own pieces using our “how-to” guide.

This season it’s all about the brights. If you want to be noticed this Spring Summer then make sure you take inspiration from the catwalk’s finest, Gucci. Whether you opt for bold earrings, necklaces, bracelets or just fancy chucking it all on together, as long as its bright and statement making then you’re right on trend.

SUMMER LOVE

If you like it then you should put a ring on it

You will need: Pliers, round and flat nose and a wire to the thickness and colour of your taste. For these examples we have used 30ga (very thin).

The basics to get you started.1. Cut a length of wire around 10cm in length. As you get the hang of

this it’s going to be better to work with more wire than too little.2. Either using your finger as a gage or something like a mascara tube,

bend the wire in half. 3. Repeat to create a double bend.4. To tie off the ring, twist the two lengths as tightly as possible around

each other and cut in the middle. 5. Any sharp edges should be sanded down.

This one’s a little bit more tricky. Don’t give up on your first attempt. Practise makes perfect remember.

1. Cut a length of wire around 15cm in length.2. Either using your finger as a gage or something like a mascara tube, twist the wire

into a basic ring shape starting from the centre. You’ll need around 5cm either end to create the bow.

3. Now this is the tricky part. Taking the wire that is on top bend into how you would form a bow if you were tying a present.

4. Repeat on the other side. 5. Using your pliers squeeze the middle section gently together to create a smooth finish. 6. Trim the lengths and round up the edges so not to scratch yourself.

As you master this one you can try smaller hearts or perhaps double hearts.1. Cut a length of wire around 15cm in length.2. Bend the wire in half using your round pliers. 3. 1cm down the right hand side bend the wire back up.4. Using your flat pliers squeeze the middle gently together

to give you more of a heart shape. 5. As you have fin-

ished off your rings, twist the wire on it-self at the bottom of your heart leaving one length of wire to create the ring shape.

The shape takes practise so don’t worry.

You will need: A pair of very sharp scissor or a Stanley knife. Coloured rope. Plumb-

ing rings.

Changing the colour and length of the rope completely changes the necklace.

1. Cut a length of rope around 50 cm. As a guide, a 50cm length will make the

necklace fall on your collarbone. 2. Simply thread on the plumbing rings. We suggest a flat one first, the a corner one

followed by a flat one again.3. To finish off the necklace simply knot the rope. We recommend hiding the knot with

your hair left down.

How about trying different coloured ropes and thickness’s. You could also try spray paint-ing your plumbing rings to com-pletely change the look.

You will need: Pliers, scissors, gold chain and ribbon. We have used this seasons red but you can mix the ribbon for any

colour you desire.1. Cut a length of chain around 70cm

and ribbon around 20cm.2. Thread a piece of ribbon through

one of the ends and knot.3. Repeat on the other side.

Simple right? Try altering the length of your ribbon to create tighter or

longer necklaces.

You will need: Scissors, Thread/Ribbon and washers.

A great alternative to friendship bracelets.

1. Cut a length of thread/ribbon around 5cm longer than the radius of your wrist.

2. Simply thread on the washers. You can be the designer as to whether you fill the bracelet with them or use minimal.

3. To tie the bracelet simply knot around your wrist.

How about painting the washers?


This is just a development of your heart ring.

1. Cut a length of wire around 50cm in length.2. Follow the stages to create the heart from the ring guide.3. Shape the wire into a bracelet shape. Use a jar to wrap the wire around

to help. 4. Trim any excess wire leaving around 6cm extra.5. At the end of the long length of wire bend the wire back on itself.6. Bend this bend back on itself again to create a hook. This will become

your lock for your bracelet, tucking into the heart.

You will need: Hair bobbles and a large plumbing ring depending on the thickness of your hair. A hair brush if you’re hair is particularly untame.

1. Tie your hair up into a pony-tail. This look usually works best if your hair is in a high pony -tail.2. Break your pony-tail into sections using hair bobbles to rock that 90’s look.3.
