Playa Paraíso is located only 900 meters from the Archaeological Zone of Tulum and is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and one of the most awarded by different magazines due to the beauty that surrounds this place. Its beach serves as a starting point for those who want to sail on a catamaran and snor-

kel through the reefs in the Ar-chaeological Zone of Tulum. This beach has restaurants where you can enjoy the delights of the sea at affordable prices.

Put on your explorer hat and come to Cobá, an important Mayan Site that is still surrounded by a thick jungle. Cobá was once a huge city, but only 5% has been excavated so far, and continues to be studied. This city was built between two lakes during the classical period (600–900 AD) and had an area of more than 80 square kilometres with about 50,000 inhabitants. The

main pyramid, Nohoch Mul, 42 me-ters high, is the second highest in the Yucatán peninsula and can still be climbed. There is a second pyra-mid, known as “The Church”, which is slightly smaller. The excavations have unearthed a nine-story castle and two ball courts, and the site has more sacbés (wide calcareous pavements of ancient roads) than any site still discovered.

MUYIL Muyil

Muyil (or “place of rabbits” in Maya) is located in the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve and is one of the first ancient Mayan Sites (300 BC–250 AD). The main part dates from the post-classic period, when it was part of the commercial route that once connected with the great city of Chichén-Itzá. Here, there are important structures including “El Castillo”, which is more than 4.5 meters high. Inside, archaeologists discovered jade figures during the

The town of Noh Bec was founded in 1936 by a group of “chicleros” (chewing gum extraction workers) from the state of Veracruz. The ejido has a territory of 24,122

hectares and is recognized for its sustainable forest management, among which, 716 hectares have been designated for the protec-tion and conservation of flora and fauna called “El Huasteco Forest Reserve”. It is in “El Huasteco” where you can appreciate the majesty of the Millenary Trees, swim in a beautiful lagoon, and contemplate the splendour of the nature in its two viewpoints.

Less than 1 hour by car, north-west of the city of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, is located the town of Tihosuco. One of the aspects that distinguish Tihosuco the most is its monumental Church and convent of the “Divino Niño”,

The weather of the Riviera Maya is of tropical-humid type. This means that all year round there are pleasant and even warm temperatures. The temperatures in summer do not usually exceed 34–35 °C, but the high humidity - sometimes exceeding 80% – caus-es a thermal sensation that can reach 40 °C. The warmer months and with more pleasant tempera-tures are usually those of winter and spring where the maximums are usually between 25–27 °C.
