1 Overview

In today’s competitive business environment of

intensified competition, small and midsize busi-

nesses (SMBs) require access to electronic

business management that is not only tailored to

their specific business needs but also economi-

cally adequate. SAP® Business One satisfies

those requirements by bundling comprehensive

business functions in a simple and excellent

value integrated solution.

For manufacturing businesses the beas group

AG, an accredited SAP Business One Solution

Partner, offers a specific over-all solution. The

beas group AG deals with the industry specific

configuration of SAP Business One and develops

additional highly integrated standard software

products under the brand be.as®.

For further information see www.sap.com and

www.beasgroup.com.

1.1 Introduction

SAP® Business One supplemented by the

be.as® modules provides an integrated solution

that is specifically tailored to small and midsize

manufacturing businesses. It provides not only

fast and easy access to all business information

but also the additional reports and documents

that are required for decision making in all divi-

sions of your company like sales and distribution,

purchase, accounting, production etc.

That combination also safeguards your invest-

ment as a future-proof business solution.

SAP Business One / be.as may be implemented

rapidly: the introduction takes only from a couple

of days to a few weeks, depending on the com-

plexity of the case. Using the beas group and SAP

Rapid Implementation Methodology, the intro-

duction and use take place quickly and

efficiently. Milestones, extensive checklists and

branch specific sample processes establish the

basis that is optimised with the customer in each

case at project start.

Easily configurable standard programs are avail-

able for the transfer of old data.

The installation, introduction and service of

SAP® Business One / be.as are carried out by

the beas group or an authorised partner.

1.2 Overview SAP Business One / be.as

Industry Solutions

Midsized manufacturing businesses are in need

of high productivity and profitability. In addition

reliable planning, efficient order processing and

all-embracing transparency are so important to

know from which products, which orders and

which customers real money is earned.

For this and further requirements SAP® Business

One offers all useful information and decision

making possibilities. And be.as supplements

modularly what you need for your manufacturing

management and cost accounting / controlling -

it fits together.

Page 5: be.as Industry Solutions qualified for SAP Business One

5

SAP® Business One together with the be.as modules also provides for example:

• Creating offers that are backed by a pre-cal-

culation which gives comparison data for the

products to be manufactured (Full costs, mar-

ginal costs and contribution margin).

• Creating production orders directly from the

customer order; early material availability

check and material ordering and early sched-

uling of external parts.

• Assured and fast reaction on deviations due to

production data acquisition (PDA).

• Information of final costing on the run, after

order completion and compared to the quota-

tion on the achievement of objectives.

• Costing provides cost accounting as well as

contribution by period, customer, order or

item using transaction data from financial ac-

counting, payroll, etc.

• SAP® Business One and the be.as modules

make all necessary data available to make

sound entrepreneurial decisions in the e-Busi-

ness age.

• The add-on modules for manufacturing and

cost accounting use the business manage-

ment standards of SAP®

• be.as integrates SAP BusinessObjects for oper-

ative reporting, for flexible Ad-hoc-queries and -

analyses, for dashboards and visualizations, for

scheduling and budgeting.

• be.as Web Apps is a steadily increasing collec-

tion of various modules for flexible optional

usage of terminal equipments (client/ server,

Web interfaces with PCs, touchscreens,

smartphones, tablets).

SAP® Business One / be.as solution is best

suited for companies with production that spe-

cialize in

• Engineering / make-to-order / projects

• Assembly / configure-to-order /

variant production

• OEM / supply industry / automotive

• Process manufacturing

The configuration of industry specific solutions

can be done at 3 levels:

• Based on the composition and activation of

the needed be.as modules the major business

processes are covered

• Based on the parameter settings a pre-pack-

aged solution for a specific vertical market can

be delivered

• Based on additional customization using the

be.as tools a highly optimized solution for a

customer can be created.

2 The be.as Growth Path

2.1 Easy navigation in the full range from light to complex manufacturing

The be.as industry solutions can easily be ad-

justed to various levels of light, mid or high

complex manufacturing depending on customer

organizations, business processes, beneficial

methods in logistics and production, operating

experience in usability of ERP solutions, product

evolutions, etc. For this reason beas group pro-

vides with be.as Starter, be.as Basic and

additional modules various configured entry

levels according to the customers benefit.

2.1.1 be.as Starter

• Is the ideal entry level in be.as industry solu-

tions in case of

• light manufacturing needs only

• ideal start to learn and improve the oper-

ating experience

• rapid implementation, benefit and ROI of

a first project step

• lower budget and investments (or distrib-

uted to 1-3 years using the beas growth

path!)

• e.g. growing but still small organizations

• Supported business processes in discrete and

process manufacturing

• Engineer- and make-to-order

• Make-to-stock

• Variant production (variants a-z)

• Please consider 2.2 Scope

2.1.2 be.as Basic and additional modules

• Is the accurate entry level in be.as industry

solutions in case of • mid complex manufacturing needs

to navigate within the comprehensive growth

path without any software reinstallations or

data migrations

• The following growth paths are supported:

Page 8: be.as Industry Solutions qualified for SAP Business One

8

• be.as Starter + production data collection

(additional module, no others possible) • be.as Starter to be.as Basic

• be.as Basic + all additional modules

2.1.4 be.as OnDemand

The be.as industry solutions are available as

OnDemand applications. be.as Starter and

be.as Basic are fully compatible with the SAP

Business One OnDemand architecture and pre-

conditions of a multi-tenancy environment.

be.as Basic and additional modules need

additional services, e.g. Web services, which

are not supported in the SAP multi-tenancy ar-

chitecture (ask for current status!). The

extended / comprehensive solutions are there-

fore available in a private cloud only.

2.1.5 be.as for HANA (announcement)
