PRIVATE FUGHT
wing is strut braced and a steerable tailwheel is standard. The control quadrant features choke, throttle, and pitch trim levers.
The taildragger has a tubular spring main gear. Setup time is said to be 15min with two people. Coyote is powered by a 27 h.p. Rotax 277 driving a 60in diameter, 28in pitch prop through a gear driven 2-5:1 reduction. The cockpit is said to accommodate a 6ft 6in pilot. Coyote is sold factory assembled and flight-tested for $6,800.
Jenny Sport Bill Tanner, whose Gift of Wings organisation constructs show-quality ultralights for several manufacturers, has completed a modified | -scale Cloud Dancer Jenny ultralight for himself. Known as the Jenny Sport, it differs from the trainer in having the upper wing lowered by 6in, reshaped cowling with enclosed engine muffler, and redesigned control system eliminating 90 per cent of the cables in the rear (cable to bellcrank to pushrod, in place of all cables to elevators).
The aircraft is powered by a 35 h.p. Cuyuna, but it is aero-dynamically cleaned, which will enable Tanner to use a smaller engine for increased efficiency. The machine also has a single seat, unlike the "false" second seat in the trainer.
Wing span is 28ft 4in (upper) and 24ft 8in (lower), empty weight is given as 2501b (gross 5001b), and estimated cruise is 54 m.p.h. Construction is a Dacron-covered 6061-T6 aluminium-tube structure with landing gear and rivets of stainless steel.
Ultra Classics Bearcat Four principals of Ultra Classics left Eipper to develop the Bearcat ultralight. The high-wing single-seater has been designed by Jack Hutchinson, who started the project last May. The prototype first flew a month later.
An anodised aluminium airframe was used first but has given way to a chrome/moly structure with 3-9oz Dacron used on the wings and tail, and 4-5oz on the fuselage. The three-axes craft has double-surfaced wing and tail; the former is equipped with a D-cell leading edge and ailerons.
Wings disconnect and elevators fold beside the rudder for transport; one-man setup time is said to be 30min. Cub-type landing gear is employed, using a bungee'd aluminium structure, and having a 5ft 6in track.
The complete assembly kit is priced at $7,495 with 38 h.p. Kawasaki 440A engine. A two-place machine with an unspecified two-cylinder, four-stroke engine is also in the works, as well as an enclosed cockpit biplane for the ARV/Primary homebuilt category.

Anglin J-3 Kitten Anglin Special Aero Planes (Hendersonville, NC) is producing its J-3 Kitten ultralight single-seater in several kit. versions. The type was judged to be Best New Design at Sun 'n Fun. A complete materials package with all items in raw state comes in at $4,200, a tack-welded fuselage and tail features package is $5,500, a completely welded fuselage package costs $5,900, and a finished flight-tested aircraft is priced at $7,500. Plans and assembly information package is $75.
Standard powerplant is 35 h.p. direct-drive Global 7892 two-cylinder, four-stroke engine. Some 150 of the 500 engines ordered have been delivered by Global Machine Tool Corp.
Designer Anglin uses a strut-braced wing for the Kitten, with the wings employing a box-type wooden spar and geodetic ribs, two bays of drag and anti-drag wires, and chrome/moly steel brackets. The fuselage, tail section, and landing gear are welded 4130 chrome/moly steel, and the entire aircraft is covered with Stits Polyfibre (Dacron), heat shrunk, sealed, UV-treated, and painted. The ultralight is fitted with a
removeable side window and opposite side door for cold-weather flying. Folding wings allow a 15min setup time, and the machine can be transported on its own gear for short distances.
Fisher FP-202 Super Koala Mike Fisher unveiled his FP-202 Koala derivative at last year's EAA convention at Oshkosh. He brought two new aircraft to Sun 'n Fun—the second prototype Super Koala two-seater ARV/ultralight trainer and the FP-303 low-wing ultralight.
Fisher Flying Products designers Mike Fisher and Wayne Ison are using computers to design the new aircraft with outstanding success. Each project is of geodetic and plywood construction with Dacron covering. The FP-101 and Koala series have aluminium strut bracing and a bungee'd landing gear.
Super Koala field-assembly time is said to be 25min. It is fitted with three-position flaps to permit short-field operation. The aircraft is available in several kit packages, starting with the wing kit at $950. The complete kitted Super Koala, with engine, has a price of $5,800.
