There’s No Limit to How Great You Can Be.An Accenture employee finds he can really go far when given opportunities to perform.

When Rujipol graduated with an Information and Communication Technology degree, he immediately made a beeline for Accenture, after he had heard a lot of praises being sung about the company.

“The first time I heard about Accenture was from my friend who used to intern there. My interest was further piqued when I heard that Accenture is a dynamic place filled with talented people.”

A great startNow an analyst with Accenture, Rujipol feels he has gotten his career off to a great start. During his first two months, he was involved in many projects which presented him with opportunities to help companies achieve high performance. Best of all, he had a great opportunity to go abroad for on-the-job-training. “So far, I have learnt a lot from both project assignments and Accenture’s training,” he adds.

Exciting new projectEarly in his career, Rujipol already has a big project on his plate. Needless to say, the affable analyst is relishing every bit of it. “One of Accenture’s

clients is going to migrate its internal system to a new hosted system. I’ll be involved in designing the architecture blueprint for the new system and helping the client go through their current business process and application architecture. I’m also very excited to be involved in designing the new application architecture and identifying gaps to improve future processes. A lot of workshops will be conducted to accommodate all the client’s divisions and functional areas.”

This was put to the test recently when Rujipol came upon his biggest professional challenge yet. “I was expected to learn the airline industry within a short time. By applying what I have learnt from my Accenture training, coupled with support from my project team and industry experts, I was able to gain that knowledge very quickly.”

Our Consulting professionals are the experts in business functions, industry, systems integration and technology. They help our clients design, build and implement strategies which can assist businesses and governments in enhancing their performance.

Fresh graduates who join our Consulting workforce will be hired into either the Technology Analyst Consulting Group (TACG) or our Management Consulting Analyst Community (MCAC).

Technology Analyst Consulting GroupThe Technology Analyst Consulting Group is where most of our Consulting graduates start out. It’s a gateway to training, peer group support and a diversity of live projects. In this community, different assignments will help you develop your technology skills and understanding, equip you with the insights to deliver commercial benefits to clients, and teach you to implement some of the world’s leading software packages such as SAP and Oracle. You will then specialize in one of our Systems Integration / Technology Consulting groups if you are successfully promoted to Consultant.

Management Consulting Analyst Community If you join us within Management Consulting upon graduation, you will be part of our Analyst Community on the Management Consulting Development Program to help you develop your

core Management Consulting skills. This will create a unique experience while facilitating your specialization into one of our business domains if you are promoted to Consultant.

Graduate Trainee Program (Accenture Technology Solutions)

If you aspire to a career in software programming and IT, Accenture Technology Solutions (ATS) offers a three-month training program. During this entry-level program, you will be trained in new technologies such as Java, J2EE, SAP and .Net along with other IT specialists. It’s a great time to learn and network.

Your responsibilities will include:

When you think about a career in IT, a constantly evolving job scope – one that also takes you around the world – probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. But Lynda, a Manager with the Technology workforce of Accenture Malaysia, has proven that working at Accenture does not limit you to performing the same role and similar tasks day after day. Neither does it limit you to working in front of the computer within the confines of your cubicle all day. “Working on SAP projects at Accenture, I take on new challenges and learn something new everyday. This is a place where there’s no such thing as routine.”

Vast opportunities to excelFrom day one, Lynda took on great challenges at Accenture. “I was assigned to work on a SAP project right at the beginning of my career, and it was daunting because I didn’t have prior experience in SAP.”

Aided by a great network of experts, she successfully completed her project and

On top of that, we’re given the chance to work in different locations and with people from different parts of the world. In my case, I’ve worked in Brunei, Australia, London and the Philippines.”

Where work is a pleasureWhile working in Brunei, Lynda had the surprising opportunity to take her casual interest in singing further. She shares, “My project team held monthly birthday celebrations. Once, I was invited to perform with the band, which was made up of my client’s employees. That was a great exposure and now, I sing for the Accenture band and we perform during business unit meetings.”

The Offer

Growing up, Rosiana had wanted to be a policewoman. “I like to tell people to do the right thing,” she laughs. It seems like her childhood ambition has come true – just not quite in the way she envisioned. As a Strategy Consultant at Accenture Indonesia, she advises top players in the Financial Services industry on what it takes to turn potential problems into opportunities. “I hope to become the top strategist of the company one day.” says Rosiana.

Experience is keyRosiana is glad that Accenture is focused on helping its people gain the necessary skills for excelling in their careers. In her first year with the organization, she was assigned to assist in a bank merger integration project. This exercise prepared her well for her chosen field. “I learnt a lot about banking systems, business and policies, as well as project management and implementation.” Since then, she has been involved in strategy consulting work. This includes a large-scale project for a state-owned bank in Indonesia, where she had the opportunity to stretch beyond her role

Knowledge is powerAt Accenture, continuous learning has been a pivotal factor in Rosiana’s career progression. She participated in the Accenture Core Analyst School, which gave her an overview of how Accenture helps companies transform into high-performance businesses. She also attends a 2-week course on strategy consulting in Chicago every two years. “It’s what we call the Strategy College. There, we learn skills that are very specific to the role of a strategist,” she says.

After realizing the benefits of continuing education, Rosiana is always keen to help others experience the same through Accenture. Last year, she volunteered to be in charge of Guest Lecturing for the Community Committee at Accenture Indonesia. Through the program, she arranged for senior executives and senior managers to conduct guest lectures on topics such as SAP implementation.

Rosiana counts the excellent training and development programs at Accenture as one of the greatest parts of her job. How have you applied your skills since joining Accenture?My current project is in the Upstream Oil & Gas industry, and I have learned about Enterprise

Resource Planning Systems such as SAP, the budgeting and reporting processes of the client, soft skills such as interviewing clients and presenting, as well as technical skills (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SQL). I use these to deliver solutions such as tools that can automate financial reports accurately.

What excites you about your job?I like being able to work as part of a team to solve client issues and to deliver value-added solutions.

What have you learned since joining Accenture from university?I learnt that having discussions with others is very beneficial as they can contribute ideas which you would never have thought of. Another important skill I have improved on is good time management. It can take you a long way.

What advice would you give somebody preparing to join Accenture?Take the initiative to learn more by asking the right people for information. People in Accenture are very ready to share their experiences, so do ask when you have an issue.

What work do you do at Accenture?I started in Product Configuration in a telecommunications project, where I learned about the client’s services, products, and Customer Relationship Management process. What is your typical day like?My day starts by responding to emails from the client and internal teams, both local and in India. There are occasional meetings and ad-hoc tasks. My day ends preparing the next day’s assignments.

What have you learned since joining the Company? I’ve been learning a lot about

banking operations, being on a banking project. I have developed a lot of skills from Accenture such as complex data analysis, customer/ user survey design and analysis, change impact stakeholder analysis, organization assessment and presentation skills, among others. I’ve also learned to communicate and coordinate with clients. It’s great working as part of a team consisting of people from various backgrounds and cultures. Briefly describe a day in your life at AccentureEach day is never the same because my role changes as the project progresses. I analyze my assigned roles and responsibilities, develop a plan, then coordinate with clients and other teams. When unexpected situations occur, I have to find a solution, develop a new plan or raise it to my supervisor immediately. What do you do outside of the office?When I’m not working, I do quite a lot of other activities like reading – usually fiction books and magazines – watching movies, shopping, meeting up with friends and travelling. What advice would you give somebody preparing to join Accenture?Make sure that you are ready to work hard. You have to be a fast learner and manage your work well to contribute high value to clients.
