Introduction
This report is about the event on Communication Skills on the 11th and 12th of December which was
arranged by the class of BBA-3(B). The event was divided into two parts. The first was a workshop which
was to help the students in learning the art of how to give good, effective presentations. The second was a
seminar. In the seminar, there were a couple of guest speakers who told us about their life experiences in
their respective fields.
This event was sponsored by the telecom company Zong. They had provided us banners and also had set
up a stall in the University for the Sale of their SIMs.
The whole event was organized by the students themselves. Several tasks were given to groups of
students to help in arranging the event. First task was getting a sponsor for the event. The sponsorship of
Zong was secured by a group which was given this task.
A group was given the task to arrange shields which were to be presented to the speakers after the event.
The arranging of refreshments for the workshop and seminar was also done efficiently.

Explanation
Communication skills was the event which was organized by BBA-3(B). It was a two day event. The
first day consisted of a workshop and a seminar on the 11th
December. Mr. Ali jafri was the guest speaker
for the workshop. Mr. Jafri was a very well educated person and had vast experience in working in
various fields. He was an engineer and had been involved in many famous projects like the Apollo 11 and
in helping the British broadcasting corporation (BBC) start its transmission in color. He had also done an
MBA and is currently teaching at International Islamic University, Islamabad.
He had prepared a PowerPoint presentation on how to improve presentation skills. He started off by
asking the students present as to what made them become shaky and nervous before presenting. Then he
started his presentation. He covered all the things which are necessary to understand while giving a
presentation. The tone of your voice, you body language, dressing etc. He also put emphasis on the pitch
of voice. Mr. Jafri
He told the students how to respond when you dont know an answer to a question. He said that it is
better to politely say sorry to the questioner and ask someone in the audience whether or not they know
the answer. This is better than saying anything which does not make sense.
Mr. Jafri then concluded his presentation and asked the audience to come forward and talk on any subjectthey want for two three minutes. He said that he will see how much the students had learned.
After the workshop was concluded, the second part of the event began which was a seminar on
Confidence Building measures. The speakers for this seminar were Mr. Ali Moeen Nawazish and Mr.
Raja Haider Hussain, the Regional Director Marketing of Zong.
Mr. Nawazish is the only person in the world to take 23 A level subjects. He is not a world record holder
as many believe him to be. He currently studies in Trinity Hall, Cambridge University. He is associatedwith Step up Pakistan. Step up is an organization which was mainly to help Pakistan in the field of
education. The hall was packed with eager students who wanted to know how Ali Moeen had studied for
23 A level subjects. Mr. Nawazish gave a motivational speech in which he described his study patterns,
the need to work hard and setting your goals and then doing everything in your power to fulfill them. He

said that in order for our country to progress forward the youth of the county has to do forget all the
differences and need to come together and work as one. Being united is the key for a prosperous Pakistan.
The second speaker, Mr. Hussain gave a small speech on the importance of communication in our daily
lives. He said that our lives have become very fast and busy and people need to keep in touch with their
loved ones.
Certificates were given to the organizers for arranging this event. Shields and bouquets were presented to
the speakers thanking them for taking their time out and coming to the event.
At the end, refreshments were given to the audience and the first day of the event came to an end.
On the 2nd day, the 12th December, the banners were hung again in the seminar hall by 10 am. The topic
of the day was Get Confident! and Ms. Samiya Akbar was the only guest speaker for the day. She
conducted a few activities whose purpose was to improve the confidence of the students.
As Ms. Akbar finished she was presented with a shield and then lunch was given to the audience.
Recommendation
The arrangements of the event were satisfactory but they could have been better. The projector in the
library hall had to be started after the speaker had come. Its direction had to be adjusted and still the
whole picture was not showing properly on the screen.
The event should have been conducted on weekdays rather than on a weekend. By doing this the event
could have gotten more audience. There should have been a single event on day one.
In another incident the banner which was in the hall went down because it was not hanged properly.
Conclusion
This was the first time BBA-3(B) had organized an event. Everything went well in the event. The
audience learnt a lot from our guest speakers. The students got a taste of working together. The overall
experience of organizing was good and the whole class combined together to make the event successful.
For many students in our class this was their first experience of being part of organizing an event and the
experience will prove to be very valuable for them.
