Posit ion Tit le: Engineer ing Director , BCD / Condui t FLSA Status: Exempt Department: Bui ld ing & Construct ion / Condui t Hours: Ful l -‐T ime Reports To: Pres ident Date: July 2015 Posit ion Summary In co l laborat ion with Div is ion management committees, member companies , indiv iduals and PPI staff , the pos it ion manages the activities of the Building & Construction Division (BCD) and Conduit Division (CD). This position will be the PPI spokesperson for these divisions in various industry organizations, standard and code bodies, and other forums, supporting the priority projects of each division, including engineering, marketing, communications, training, statistics, accounting and membership. Also, manages consultants and staff as needed. There is extensive travel required for this position. Essentia l Responsibi l i t ies:
• Communicates with members, management committees, end users, staff, researchers and consultants • Implements the strategic p lans of each d iv is ion • Represent the Conduit and BCD interests by serving on various groups and committees, including work on
standards, specifications, and codes for ASTM, CSA, AWWA, ICC, IAPMO, UL, NEMA and other relevant industry groups and organizations as directed by the divisions management committees.
• Prepares and presents seminars and papers at various industry forums in North America and possibly overseas
• Prepares and gives lectures and short courses to engineering students at universities • Manages activities of the Divisions by setting up meetings and conference calls for various Division task
groups and committees, and draft for review minutes and agendas. • Maintains internal and external communications to keep members and others informed of activities and
actions. • Manages and tracks current research projects • Responsible for programs and projects within the divisions including R&D, Marketing, Budgets, Ballots, and
staff. • Manages work assigned by Management Committees and supervisor, and delegates to support staff and
outside consultants as needed • Work with Management Committees to ensure employee work and time allocation is appropriate • Work with members to reach consensus on priorities and decisions • Create cohesive plan of action taking into account a wide range of members with a variety of interests • Respond to technical inquiries from members and end users/specifiers

• Manage the divisional meetings at the PPI annual and semi-‐annual meetings; prepare and review draft meeting agendas, Power Point presentations, minutes and follow-‐up to get tasks accomplished
• Any additional work assigned or requested by supervisor, Board of Directors, Management Committees. • Maintain continuity of Division through bi-‐annual leadership changes • Direct Administrative Assistant assigned to Divisions
Knowledge, Sk i l l s , Ab i l i t ies , Qual i f i cat ions :
• Should have 10 years of experience in an engineering field • An engineering degree is required – civil or mechanical or chemical • An advanced degree is preferred • Extensive knowledge of thermoplastics and plastic pipe systems – preferably in the residential plumbing
pressure pipe (including radiant heating), electrical power and telecommunications. • Knowledge of plastic pipe production, design and installation • Experience working with code bodies and standards organizations. Proven track record in initiating and
completing projects and assignments within these bodies with minimal direction and oversight. • Experience in Project Management and Business Development • Experience in leading diverse work teams and consensus building • Proficient with computer software such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint • Strong communication skills are essential – verbal as well as written, listening • Must be able to clearly communicate (present) to large and small audiences • Strong technical skills need to be balanced with strong people skills • Must have good attention to detail • Must be able to respond and adapt quickly to developing industry issues and priorities. • Must be a person of integrity in dealing with internal and external customers • Approximately 40% -‐ 50% travel (100 – 120 days per year) • Strong managerial, operational and financial skills
