Improvement after electing for Business communication course:

The course has transformed speaking and listening skills in me to a great extent. I have developed enough clarity in me about how I should present myself while delivering a presentation, a speech or any form of oral or written communication. A presentation initially to me was something related to preparation of the topic assigned and speaking it to the audience. It was only after business communication course that I learnt the soft skills as in the proper eye contact, the clarity of words, the pause required in between sentences and words, the intonation, avoidance of jargon, use of euphemism and many other basics while giving a presentation. I would like to quote specifically from what I have learnt from the lecture on euphemisms. Sometimes, I would say most of the time, we come across situations when we wish to avoid a situation or a person. Had euphemisms not been available, it would have been very difficult for people in complex situations which require strict handling of subordinates. Euphemisms in short, have been a major learning from this course.

Besides oral communication, I have now got myself acquainted with the international standards of writing official letters to the different heads and authorities. This would always come in handy because one encounters many situations in his life, almost every day, when he has to write letters to his officials, subordinates, head of the project etc. If one doesn’t have a proper knowledge of proper knowledge of the appropriate format and structure of the letter, the message that he intends to communicate may be conveyed in a wrong sense which might sometimes create disasters. After a year and a half, when I would enter the corporate world, the basics of the communication would give me an edge over others because the management would always choose a person who communicated well.
