The knowledge and experience of our faith in God and membership of His community, should be the most precious gift in our lives. If that is not how we feel, let us ask God to give us a deeper understanding of what Jesus can be for us in finding meaning in our lives. Jesus describe the Kingdom of Heaven requiring us to bring a wedding garment. Let us reflect on how clean our wedding garment is. To what extent have we really offered ourselves in love & service to Our Lord and His people? To what extent could we be considered purely marginal members of our parish community? To what extent do we give clear witness of our values and beliefs both inside and outside the community? Let us never forget as Church members we are expected to witness to and contribute actively to its life. This may not be through ministry, but through time spent in prayer for the outreach of the Church. Today’s scripture tell us that God has wonderful things in store for us. Everyone receives the same invitation to sit down at God’s table! However, having initially answered the invitation, we cannot take things for granted. Almost more dangerous than being an obviously sinful person is being the “ordinary, run-of- the-mill Catholic”, the “Sunday” Catholic, or “it stops when I leave the Church Catholic!” These are all cop- outs, and it is not God but ourselves who are the losers. So let us pray that we may keep our wedding garments pure and spotless, and become intentional disciples who really live the teachings of Jesus. Let us pray for a deeper faith & love and a sense of responsibility to our community.

Does banquet imagery describe well the fullness we will have in the presence of God? How can a feast - juicy, rich food & pure, choice wines - be a sacramental vision of the universe? Besides answering God’s invitation to the feast, what is our job? Are we the guests or are we also the ones doing the inviting? How does this banquet not only sustain life but also transfigure it?
