Shared with Me
• Users can directly share portfolio snapshots with you for feedback.
• You can also discover portfolio snapshots shared indirectly to you if the author decided to share with a role you belong to or if the author shared it with everyone.
Sharing Portfolios
Faculty will only be able to see student portfolios after they have attached it to a portfolio assignment OR students have shared it
Share a Snapshot of Portfolio
• When sharing a portfolio, you are sharing a ‘snapshot’ of that portfolio
• If changes are made after sharing the snapshot, the snapshot will have to be re-shared to see the latest version• External Users: non FIU member• Courses• Organizations• Institution Roles: ‘All Students’ • All System Roles: available under

Generic Portfolio Template
• The DEE Team has developed a very basic, generic template with some embedded instructions
• It’s available in Blackboard now
Portfolio Homepages & Course Portfolios
• If you want to link directly to the Portfolios tab:• Content Area > Tools > More
Tools > Portfolios Homepage• If you want the students to see
the portfolios shared with that COURSE:• Content Area > Tools > More
Tools > Portfolios
Portfolio Instructions Video for Students
• The DEE Team has posted a video with instructions for students.
• Feel free to embed this video when using Portfolios.
• Search for it on Knowledge Center
Things to Remember
• They’re designed to live OUTSIDE the course so students can keep using them for other courses
• Once an assignment has been graded, the student can choose to attach that graded item to their portfolio.
• they can choose to attach the assignment, the feedback, the grade
Best Practices
• Encourage faculty to use Portfolios if the students will be able to use it for other courses, past the current course’s end date
• If not, perhaps another assignment tool might be best
• Use the template. A well-designed template with embedded instruction guides the student and reduces confusion
Ideas on how to use Portfolios
• Progression: Use Portfolios so students can compare and see how their work gets better over the span of the course • Example: Engineering Drawing (intro to AutoCAD) • Have the students upload their initial drawings
during the first few weeks of the semester and then compare it to their final
• Online Resume• Examples of their best work
