Sept 4 - Jankowski Twins birthday (Jerry & Judie Martin’s Grands)   Sept 6 - Mishell Blandi Cash & Martin Cash’s Wedding Anniversary   Sept 7 - Charlie Henington’s birthday #59                - Henry Ann and Jerry “Chief” Burton  would have celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary.  Henry Ann said she was still celebrating the day because she                will always be Chief’s wife.

Sept 10 - Henry Ann Burton’s birthday                                        David & Karen Pitts will mark the 35th year of their union on this day.  (I think David still pays “dues” too)

Sept 11 - Ann Burton Holbrook’s birthday.  Not giving the number because no one would believe it anyway.   Sept 14 - Bruce Lynn’s birthday   Sept 15 – J.J. Harris will finally be old enough to do all that stuff he could not wait to be 21 to do.  Hope J.J. makes it to Bodcau on the 24th.   Sept 16 – Tried to decide whether age, or beauty should prevail in this listing, but with the two subjects involved, DICK MAXWELL who will be 73 and MARK LANE,                 who will be just another year older, I am sure you can appreciate my dilemma.   Sept 20 – The Loridans twins, Henri who is still the oldest, but ain’t never gonna be the best lookin’, and Michelle, who will always be beautiful, were born on this day.   Sept 26 – Mary Whitesnake Rambin would have been 97 on this day.   If you never met Mary, you really missed knowing a great lady.  If you were lucky to have known her, you will never forget her.

El Camino de Santiago, the Way of St. James, is a network of medieval pilgrimage routes across Europe that converges at the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Spain. Some pilgrims continue on with the even older Roman trade route that ends at Cape Finisterre (the end of the world) on the Atlantic Coast. The network is similar to a river system, with small streams joining together to make rivers that all come together to end at the cathedral. The scallop shell, with its lines converging at a single point, has come to symbolize the Camino. Many pilgrims carry one on their walk.

Clay Peninger recently hiked the Camino and will share his pictures and stories at the September meeting. This is a meeting you definitely do not want to miss!

Classy Ads and Other Important StuffThanks to Ken Harris for graciously volunteering to take the minutes at the August meeting.

Wow, September already half gone and school is in session.  SLOW DOWN FOR SCHOOL ZONES when you are driving. [PSA for the month covered]

With fall lurking around the corner, we need to be thinking about taking a walk in the woods sometime. Be thinking of hikes we could do and maybe consider new areas to hike. There are many trails within the state but in truth, most of them require a three hour drive to get there, the hike and then the drive home. It makes for a loooong day and most are not willing to commit to the time required. BUT, we need ideas so activate your brain cells and let us know what we can do. along those lines Many of us have children and grandchildren that have school activities to attend and that cuts into the free time for outdoor activities. Just something we will have to deal with. A bit of planning can work wonders.

On the tenth of the month, we had a float on the Dorcheat.  Eleven hardy souls braved a slow current and sunshine for six and a half miles, only one swimmer, and I think that was deliberate. One can never tell with young people. Had a couple of new members along who seemed to enjoy the trip. Missed a lot of the members who are usually present. Most notable was the absence of John and Cathy Joyce (deserters who have turned into yankees). Arkansas, sheesh, who wants to move to the mountains with cooler temps and beautiful views?? Some people just don't understand the joys of heat and humidity!!

It is, I remind you, time to be thinking about stepping up and volunteering for one of the positions that will be open in the coming year. We are going to need a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and possibly Treasurer. New blood will produce new ideas and that’s what we need.

A final thought. On the 24th we have the Bodcau Wildlife Festival. Lots of help will be needed so please don't forget.
