I had such a good time on the BEST trip to Prague and Vienna. I think my favorite thing about it was getting to know people outside of Kappa, and forming friendships through our time there. When you are forced to spend 9 straight days with the same group of people, you get to know each other a lot more quickly. While in Prague we got to meet with the CEO and founder of Fleet Sheet, the CEO and founder of BCH Telecommunications, the president of the International Baptist Theological Seminary, a film

producer, an economics professor at the school of economics, and the head of economic and political development for the US Embassy. We also visited the main historical attractions there, including the concentration camp and museum in Terezin, the cathedral and palace, as well as the Skoda automobile plant. My favorite spot was the Charles’ Bridge where at night you can see the whole palace lit up on the hillside. We also had plenty of free time to shop and hang out together at night. We didn’t spend as much time in Vienna, but none of our time there was scheduled so it was fun to see the city completely on our own. We went to the world famous Vienna Opera House, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Albertina Museum, and rode on the ferris wheel that lets you see a view of the whole city. The hardest thing about being gone for so long was missing so much class and trying to get caught up on work, not to mention missing Pigskin practice! However, I would say that overall it was definitely worth it and I would do it again!

Alpha Delta Pi Awarded for Achievements Alpha Delta Pi is pleased to report that at this summers' 156th Year International Convention in Boston, the Zeta Chi Chapter of Baylor University returned home with eight awards, including five 'silver platter' awards of highest excellence. Awards included the Achievement Award, Diamond 4-Point, Scholastic Excellence, Panhellenic Excellence, Total Membership Education Excellence, Alpha Member Excellence, Harris Finance Award and the Adelphean Award. In addition two members were awarded merit tuition scholarships by the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation: Erika Labuzan and Christa Howard.

Alpha Delta Pi Sorority brings International Contest to Baylor Campus with its First Annual Ultimate Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament. On Wednesday, Sept 27, hundreds of students gathered at the Fountain Mall to kick off the event with a performance by the James Peel Band. Then, contestants worked through levels of the competition as they enjoyed a hot dog cookout and music performances throughout the evening. In the ultimate showdown of the top three, the grand prize winner took home three hundred dollars in cash. Proceeds of the event were donated to Alpha Delta Pi's philanthropy, the Ronald McDonald House. Special thanks to Kay-Lynne Beck for coordinating the event for the chapter.

Kappa Kappa Gamma Service News

One of Kappa’s national philanthropy’s is “Reading is Fundamental.” In an effort to support our national effort, we partner with Parkdale Elementary’s 3rd grade. Each child is paired with a Kappa and they exchange “pen pal” letters throughout the year. Every month we write letters to our pen pals. Occasionally, we eat lunch with our pen pals and play with them at recess. This year, we also go to Parkdale every Friday and offer one on one tutoring to help increase their reading level. Working with Parkdale is a very humbling experience for every Kappa. It is such a great opportunity to be able to invest in the lives of these children. It is such a neat experience to witness the impact we made on their lives. While it is not always possible to see the end result, we are privileged to see their academic improvement and personal growth throughout the year. We are blessed to have such a wonderful opportunity to bring a little bit of joy into their lives. Volunteering is truly an outreach effort that allows us to leave a situation better than we found it!!
