WITHHOLDING PERIOD: CATTLE - MEAT: NIL, MILK: NIL. HORSES - DO NOT USE less than 1 day before slaughter for human consumption. TRADE ADVICE EXPORT SLAUGHTER INTERVAL: NIL GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS (Cattle, Horses) Bayticol is effective against sensitive strains of cattle tick but resistance may develop to any tickicide. If lowered level of control is experienced, resistance testing of your ticks is recommended. Bayticol should be used at intervals of not more than 19-21 days to control cattle tick (Boophilus microplus). Control is not adversely affected by rainfall a few hours after treatment. Bayticol controls Paralysis Tick (Ixodes holocyclus) and New Zealand cattle tick (Haemaphysalis longicornis) on cattle and horses. To control these ticks when active the treatment interval should be 10 days. Bayticol is compatible with externally applied Buffalo Fly Sprays plus vaccination and normal management procedures such as castration and dehorning. Bayticol may be used in water of any hardness. Softening agents should not be used. DIP AND SPRAY MANAGEMENT (Cattle, Horses) 1. Volume. The volume of dip or sump should be accurately measured. Relevant volume levels should be marked on the dip wall or a dip stick. Sumps should be maintained in near-full condition. For efficient tick control, replenish before volume falls below recommended levels (See Table). 2. Mixing. Add required concentrate to twice its volume of water in a bucket, mix,

then pour along the length of the dip, or across the surface of the sump. Stir thoroughly. In a plunge dip, use 20-25 cattle as stirrers. These must be dipped again. A spray-race sump should be stirred with a paddle and agitated vigorously with the pump. It is essential that the dip be stirred at the commencement of each day's dipping and after every replenishment. 3. Sampling. Stir dip or sump before sampling. In a plunge dip the sample should be taken from 1 metre below the surface at the jump end as the last animal is passing through the dip. In a spray-race, on completion allow drainings to reture to sump, stir with paddle and pump and sample from below the surface immediately. Sample analysis is available through Bayer Australia Limited, P.O. Box 3497, Tingalpa DC, QLD 4173. Contact the company for suitable sample bottles. PROTECTION OF WILDLIFE, FISH, CRUSTACEA AND ENVIRONMENT. Dangerous to fish. Do not contaminate dams, streams or waterways with product or used containers. Store in original container, tightly closed in a safe place under lock and key. DISPOSAL OF USED DIPWASH Disposal of unwanted dipwash should be into a pit of adequate size on level ground and away from dams, streams and watercourses. Degradation of the active chemical in the dipwash may be accelerated by adding slaked lime (calcium hydroxide) at a rate of 4kg per 1000 litres of wash. Triple or (preferably) pressure rinse empty containers, adding rinsate to to dip. Do not dispose of undiluted chemicals on site. Break, crush, or puncture and bury empty containers in a local authority landfill. If not available bury containers below 500mm in a disposal pit specifically marked and set up for this purpose clear of waterways, vegetation and roots. Empty containers and product should not be burned.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE (In QLD, NSW, WA, NT only) Precautions and Contraindications Sick or exhausted cattle, horses and dogs should not be dipped. Exercise normal care when handling stock. Dip young animals separately. Individual horses may be sensitive to pyrethroids - hose down thoroughly if reaction is observed.

*Reinforcement of dips is not generally necessary. However, if through flooding or neglect, the active constituent concentration is found to be below 60mg per litre, reinforce the dip back to the charging rate (75mg per litre). NOT TO BE USED FOR ANY PURPOSE, OR IN ANY MANNER, CONTRARY TO THIS LABEL UNLESS AUTHORISED UNDER APPROPRIATE LEGISLATION.

Replenishment Not applicable

Do not allow dip level to fall by more than one quarter of its capacity before replenishment.

Replenish after every 250 litre fall in sump volume. No more than 750 adults should be treated before the sump is emptied and recharged.

No more than 750 adults should be treated before the sump is emptied and recharged.

Use a minimum of 8-10 litres of wash per adult to ensure saturation.

The dog must be thoroughly wet all over with the rinse. Do this by using a sponge to rub the wash into all parts of the coat. Do not wash out. Allow to dry in the coat. Repeat fortnightly for continuous control. Ticks commonly attach to the skin around the head and neck and between the toes. Pay particular attention to ensure that these areas are thoroughly treated. When tick pressure is particularly heavy owners are advised to visually inspect the animal for ticks at frequent intervals to ensure application has been thorough. This product does not control Paralysis Ticks. It is recommended that in paralysis tick areas dogs are thoroughly searched each day for attached ticks and that any ticks found are removed.
