PREPARE FOR BATTLE• Face your opponent and put up some sort of barrier to

keep him/her from seeing your battleship paper

• Use folders, binders, etc.• Place each ship in a horizontal or vertical position on your

side of the paper

• No diagonal ships• Don’t overlap any ships or the edges of the game board

• Don’t move any ships once the game has begun

HOW TO PLAY• I will show a review question

• Write your answer to the question on your sheet of paper

• You CANNOT discuss it with anyone else!• I will reveal the correct answer

• If you got the answer correct, you get to take one shot at your opponent’s ships

• If you don’t answer the question correctly, you may not shoot in this round.

• Pick a target and call out its coordinates by letter and number

• If the square that you identify is occupied by an opponent’s ship, it’s a hit! Mark a hit with a circle (0) in that space

• Your opponent must tell you what ship you hit• When one of your ships is hit, mark it with a circle on your

side of the paper as well

• If the square that you identify is unoccupied, it’s a miss. Mark a miss with an X in that space

HOW TO PLAY CONTINUED• Once all the squares in any one ship are filled with circles,

it has been sunk. The owner of the ship must announce which ship was sunk.

• If both people answer the question correctly, switch off who shoots first

• How to win: sink all of your opponent’s ships first!
