Dear Parents/Carers

Home away from home I hope everyone had a great break. It’s lovely to see all of our old friends and to welcome new families for 2017. I love the first assembly back and I get a huge thrill from all of the smiling faces looking back at me ready for another fun and exciting year of learning! The school continues to grow and be even better placed to provide everyone with fantastic opportunities in the years ahead.

Principal’s Position I am very honoured and excited to confirm that I officially begin the year as the new principal. My heart is here - we have such a wonderful school with the best people and I feel so lucky to be a part of it all. Who would have thought… from Bathurst West school captain (a loooong time ago) to Bathurst West Principal! I am very relieved to be no longer relieving!

Riddle of the week For followers of the riddle, it will be back this year starting in a few weeks’ time!

Mitre/Suttor/Lambert St intersection Some local residents have begun a petition to submit to Bathurst Council aimed at improving this awkward and dangerous intersection. If you would like to add your name to the petition, you can do so at the main school office. Gravel car park In the coming weeks, we will be making long overdue changes to the car park. You may have noticed the new fence already, which will soon be a no parking area. Other changes are to follow. We will do our very best to keep you informed and up to date as these changes, aimed at improving traffic flow and most importantly, the safety of our children, are implemented. Payment for Excursions All payments and notes for excursions are now to come through the front office. Students can hand these in between 8.45-9.15 or at first break. We have EFTPOS available at the front office and payments can also be made through our website using parent online payment.

Roels A Barney A big welcome to all the families either coming back or starting at Bathurst West Public School. The canteen is UP AND RUNNING WITH A FULL MENU AVAILABLE NOW. We have heaps of great food items available and are looking forward to seeing your children using the facilities at the Canteen. The Canteen is run by the P&C and all profits are given back to the P&C to use towards resources for the children at the school. So any child who orders lunch or pur-chases afternoon tea is contributing to this outcome. DON’T FORGET THAT ON THESE HOT, HOT DAYS WE HAVE A GOOD VARIETY OF ICEBLOCKS AVAILABLE AT AFTERNOON TEA TO HELP COOL THE CHILREN DOWN. Prices range from 50c to $1.50. Please feel free to call up to get a copy of our current menu. There will be a new price list and this should be out early in March. We are always looking for volunteers at the canteen and if you are interested in this just call up to see me and I will fill you in on what’s involved. Without volunteers the can-teen will struggle to continue 5 days a week. Hoping to see your children at the canteen during Term 1 as well as some new parents to help at the canteen.
