    TaskYou have to evaluate the provision for elite sports performers with reference to twosports.

    In order to research for this task, you will:

    Conduct your own internet research

    attend a talk from a visiting speaker (G&T coordinator, BANES School SportsPartnership)

    visit Bath University

    Once you have collected all of your data, you will present your information usingpowerpoint.

    Grading CriteriaPassCandidates provide a basic evaluation of the provision for elite sport performers withreference to two sports. Their evaluation includes limited examples and statisticsfrom easily found sources.

    MeritCandidates provide a detailed evaluation of the provision for elitesport performerswith reference to two sports. Their evaluation includes a variety of examples andstatistics from a range of sources.

    Distinction

    Candidates provide a comprehensive evaluation of the provision for elitesport performers with reference to two sports. Their evaluation is supportedwith a variety ofrelevant examples and statistics from a wide range of sources.

    Sport 1 - JudoFacilities

    Dojo indoors,

    Tracks (distance and short),

    Weights room available for judo athletes.

    Coaching

    Education system within the sport,

    1 coach leads all sessions ,

    Can perform all aspects of coaching (Strength and conditioning also),

    Coach provides training framework for athletes,

    Minimum of 2 sessions a day, maximum of 3 in a day,

    Coach covers all areas of Judo, defence and attack.

    General

    Olympic Sport

    3 Judo athletes from Bath University signed up for the London Olympics,

    Sunday is the rest day,

    From the 30 Judo fighters, 50% fighters are currently at University and the other 50%have graduated from University but still return for training as it if the best for them.

    Sport 2 - BadmintonFacilities

    Indoor Sports hall,Gym.

    CoachingInjury training provided (technical training).

    Strength and conditioning training.Coaches dedicated

    Main focus- Court sessions/support team- 50% high performance centres- 50% Universities

    Plans- Sets different plans for each player/group so they can learn to their own

    speed and everyone can work on something they need to.- Evaluate plans/sessions for each player.

    General

    Team of Physiotherapists, nutritionists and psychologists work together to ensurethat the athletes are fit and healthy and eating properly.

    Sport Science Support / Strengthand conditioning

    - Use Physiotherapists, checks with athletes everyday, travels with the athletesto tournaments and other competitions.

    - Masseuse comes in once a week depending on the training the athletes gothrough.

    - Doctors also work alongside the Physiotherapists to ensure the athletes are fit

    and healthy.

    English Institute Of Sport

    - Access to psychologist and nutritionists- English Institute of Sport (EIS) provides strength and conditioning training if

    the coach who trains them cant or doesnt want to do it.

    - EIS provides Physiotherapists specific to the hurdlers, so they are not neededby anyone else.

    - The physiotherapists work with athletes in the morning and then work at aprivate clinic in the afternoon.

    - Works with other athletes when hurdlers are away on tournaments.

    Gifted and Talented

    Talent schemes every year to look for athletes.

    13-14 year olds scouted by federations and moved into high performance centres orUniversities to train and improve

    Additional Notes25 and 50 metre Olympic sized Swimming pools,110m indoor running track,Indoor throwing and jumping facilities,Astro Turf,

    Indoor Sports Hall (Netball, badminton and Gymnastics),State of the art gym,Indoor Door.
