PETS AS THERAPY STAKES CLASSESSHOW DOG OF THE YEAR 2018

RULES OF COMPETITIONThe aim of the Pets As Therapy Stakes Classes is to encourage support and subscription of the Pets AsTherapy Charity and to draw attention to the high standards of excellence achieved by dogs in general.The Kennel Club registered owner(s) of all dogs competing must have a valid Pets As Therapy subscription(s),either a registered visiting or supporter subscription. The winners of the qualifying round on each day willcompete for the title Pets As Therapy Show dog of the Year at the final. The winner will receive £200, a trophyand rosette. The runner up will receive £100, a trophy and rosette.Pets As Therapy Stakes classes are open ONLY to those who have a valid Pets As Therapy subscription. Thehandler should show the valid subscription card (or cards) when the dog is registered in multiple name(s) to thering steward on entering the ring.If the society could kindly supply a catalogue from each day, this would enable the charity to verify all exhibitorsentered into the Pets As Therapy Stakes classes are eligible.When a dog is Kennel Club registered in partnership, both/all owners must hold a valid Pets As Therapysubscription.All Canine Societies/Clubs hosting Pets As Therapy stakes classes must hold a valid Pets As Therapysubscription. KENNEL CLUB BREEDERS’ COMPETITIONFollowing the Kennel Club’s recent press release regarding the new structure for the Kennel Club Breeders’Competition, Bath Canine Society announce that they will schedule the Competition.

Entries can be made online or using a Bath entry form, and should be sent to:Bath Canine Society, c/o Higham Press Ltd., New Street, Higham, Alfreton, Derbyshire DE55 6BP.

Entry Fee: £15.00 per team

Each team will consist of a minimum of three and maximum of four dogs of one breed, all bred by the samebreeder or breeding partnership. The breeder enters the class and then arranges which dogs are exhibited onthe day of the show (from those dogs duly entered for exhibition in another class at this show). Please clearlystate the name and affix of the registered breeder(s). Entries will not be taken on the day of the show.

Classes are scheduled each day before the Adult Handling Classes.

The teams will be awarded points/prize money in the Kennel Club Breeders’ Competition as follows:

ABUSIVE BEHAVIOURThe Society will not tolerate any kind of abusive behaviour to its Officers, Committee or staff on itsshowground, car park or caravan park. Anyone found to be behaving in this manner will be asked to leave anda report sent to the Kennel Club.

DOGS IN VEHICLES / UNENTERED DOGSWe regret that we are UNABLE TO PROVIDE A TENT FOR THE UNENTERED DOGS at the show this year,However you can enter dogs as NOT FOR COMPETITION (at a cost of £10.00 per dog). This will enable yourdog to be benched alongside your entered dogs. Please refer to Not For Competition details on page 14 (19).Alternatively unentered dogs may be brought to the show on the day and admitted as a SPECTATOR DOG(at cost of £5,00 per dog). Upon arrival at the show you will need to complete the necessary Kennel Club form,giving an undertaking that you will keep your dog under control at all times.Do NOT leave dogs unattended in vehicles, Bath Canine Society policy is ZERO TOLERANCE. Car ParkAdmission passes must be displayed at all times in the vehicle. When the breed in question is identified,Judging in that ring will cease until the Dog(s) are removed and the issue resolved.

ATTRACTING OF EXHIBITSThe attracting of the attention of exhibits by any method from the ringside is prohibited. It is the duty of theJudge, Steward or Show Executive noticing such attraction to ask that it cease immediately.

PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO RIGHTSThe Organisers would like to bring the regulation on photography and filming to the attention of exhibitors,trade stands, press and visitors.It is a condition of all those attending the event that no filming or other form of recording may be taken or madeat the venue without express written permission of the organisers. The taking of photographs in the showvenue for sale or reward is strictly prohibited except with the written permission of the Organisers. Pressaccredited photographers are provided with permission to take photographs ONLY for use in newspapers,magazines and internet sites – this is for news purposes only. There is no objection to the general publictaking photographs of general views of the show, provided that these are for private use. Specific dogs may bephotographed only with the approval of the exhibitor. No photography or filming is permitted in breed judgingrings whilst judging is actually taking place. However, judges may allow it to happen at the end of classes orafter the Challenge Certificate is awarded. Filming and flash photography is allowed from outside the rings at alltimes unless the operation of the camera is actually affecting exhibits. However, if a powerful flash unit is used or itis clear that exhibits are being affected, a ring steward or the judge is empowered to stop the person concerned.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR DOG IS ELIGIBLE FOR ENTRYIn cases where entries are made for dogs that are not eligible for competition (e.g. Dogs under SIX calendarmonths of age on the first day of the Show, ie puppies born on or after Saturday 25th November 2017) beforethe entry fee is refunded, an administration charge of £5.00 will be deducted.

The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme is the largest Dog Training Programme inthe UK and encourages dog owners to recognise the responsibilities they have inowning a dog. To date, over 1800 training organisations participate in the Scheme,

which in turn has produced over 565,000 proud recipients of the Good Citizen Dog Scheme Awards.

The Scheme incorporates all aspects of domestic dog owning situations including general health care,grooming, basic obedience and control exercises. Whether you have a domestic pet dog or a show winner, awell-behaved dog is of primary importance.

Bronze Award testing sessions will be held throughout the day, so come along to the ring when you have aspare moment and take part. No need to pre-book. Your dog will need to be microchipped to take part.Remember to bring with you a poop scoop bag, your dog’s grooming equipment and ensure your dog iswearing a collar and lead with the name and address of the owner written on it. A fee of £2.00 per dog will bemade - all of which will be donated to the Kennel Club Charitable Trust.

There is also an Any Variety Good Citizen Dog Scheme Stakes class held each day and open to all GCDSBronze Achievers (as of show closing date). Prize Money 1st £40, 2nd £20, 3rd £15, 4th £10 5th £5.

RULES & REGULATIONSVICIOUS DOGS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE AND MUST NOT BE BROUGHT TO THE SHOW

EXHIBITORS ARE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE BY THEIR DOGS DURING THE EXHIBITION

1 OPENING OF SHOW: The Show will open at 7.30 am daily.2 ARRIVAL OF DOGS: Dogs will be received until 12.30pm and after which no dogs may be received except under

exceptional and unforeseen circumstances and by special permission of the Show Management.3 JUDGING TIME: Judging will commence at 9.00 am in all rings except where stated under the classification for the

breed and exhibitors will be responsible for their dogs being in time for judging. A slip showing approx. time ofjudging will be sent with your exhibitor’s pass.

4 REMOVAL OF EXHIBITS: (a) Exhibits may be removed from the Show after their judging has been completed. (b)Exhibits may not be removed any earlier unless by written order of the Veterinary Surgeon, or of the ShowManagement and then only in very exceptional and unforeseen circumstances which must be reported to theKennel Club. (c) The Show will close half an hour after all judging has been completed at which time dogs must beremoved.

5 COOKING STOVES: The use of cooking stoves in the proximity of tenting and benching areas is forbidden exceptas authorised by the Show Management.

6 ENTRY FEES: CC Breeds — 1st entry £28.00. Non-CC Breeds, AVNSC, Imported Register — 1st Entry £14.00.Not For Competition — £10.00. Stakes 1st entry — £28.00. From 1 January 2018 this suspension will be made permanent and included in the FRegulations.(Definition; Shows judged on Group System - Refer to Regulation 27B.)Where a Best Puppy in Show competition is scheduled the Best Puppy in Show is a puppy which has competedand is unbeaten by any other puppy exhibited at the same show. A puppy is a dog of six and not exceeding twelvecalendar months of age on the first day of the Show. Where the Best of Breed, Best in Group or Best in Show is apuppy it should automatically be awarded Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Showrespectively. Similarly, if the Reserve Best of Breed, Reserve Best of Group or Reserve Best in Show is a puppywhich has only been beaten by an adult dog it should also automatically be Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy inGroup and Best Puppy in Show respectively. Consequently, selection of Best Puppy in Breed, Best in Group andBest Puppy in Show must follow the selection of Best of Breed and Best in Show respectively.(a) Championship Shows Judged on the Group System

(1) Best Puppy in BreedA Best Puppy must be declared in each breed from puppies entered in the breed classes.

(2) Best Puppy in GroupOn 1 January 2015 the Kennel Club suspended the Kennel Club Show Regulations which stipulated thatdogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/StakesClass and that only unbeaten dogs were eligible to compete in the group or best in show competitions.From 1 January 2018 this suspension will be made permanent and included in the F Regulations.Best Puppy in Group and subsequent Puppy Group placings must be selected from:-(a) Those puppies declared Best Puppy in Breed provided that they are unbeaten by any other puppy.(b) The puppy declared Best Puppy from the Any Variety Not Separately Classified classes in each group

or on each day provided it is unbeaten by any other puppy.(3) Best Puppy in Show

(b) Withdrawal from CompetitionPuppies which become eligible for Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Show may be withdrawn from allother competition, other than breed classes and Best Puppy in Breed, prior to the competition for Best Puppyin Group and Best Puppy in Show as appropriate, in order to remain unbeaten. A puppy beaten in competitionfor Best Puppy in Group or Best Puppy in Show may subsequently be exhibited in all competition for which itwas previously eligible. The dog declared Best Puppy in Show, however, must not compete in any subsequentcompetition. Puppies may be withdrawn from Any Variety Classes when judged before Breed Classes.

(c) ProvisoFor the purpose of this Regulation, dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny, Brace andTeam or a Special Award confined to one breed will not be considered to be a beaten dog.

12 BEST IN SHOW: On 1 January 2015 the Kennel Club suspended the Kennel Club Show Regulations whichstipulated that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an Any VarietyClass/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs were eligible to compete in the group or best in showcompetitions. From 1 January 2018 this suspension will be made permanent and included in the FRegulations.The dog declared Best in Show is a dog which has competed and is unbeaten by any other dog exhibited at thesame Show.Definition of a Category 3 Breed: A breed from time to time designated by the General Committee as requiringparticular monitoring by reason of visible condition(s) which may cause health or welfare concerns. The list ofdesignated Category 3 Breeds is kept under regular review.(a) Shows Judged on the Group System

(Definition; Shows judged on the Group System includes classes for breeds within more than one Group, asdefined in Kennel Club Regulation B(A); and requires a judge to declare a Best of each Group after which theexhibits so declared will compete for the award of Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show.)(1) Best of Breed

Where a breed is separately classified a Best of Breed may be declared but only from those dogs whichhave received a first prize in a breed class at the show. Where separate classes are provided for each sexof a breed a Best of each Sex must be declared.NOTE: The Best of Breed/Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified award relevant to a Category 3Breed will not be confirmed until the dog has passed an examination by the General and GroupChampionship Show Veterinary Surgeon.

(2) Best of GroupOn 1 January 2015 the Kennel Club suspended the Kennel Club Show Regulations which stipulated thatdogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/StakesClass and that only unbeaten dogs were eligible to compete in the group or best in show competitions.From 1 January 2018 this suspension will be made permanent and included in the F Regulations.Best of Group and subsequent Group placings must be selected from:-(a) The Best of Breed winners in each group provided that they are unbeaten winning dogs.(b) The best unbeaten winning dog from the Any Variety Not Separately Classified classes in each group

or on each day.NOTE: The dog declared Best of Breed/Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified from a breeddesignated by the Kennel Club as a Category 3 Breed is not eligible to compete in the Group competitionunless it has passed an examination by the Show’s Veterinary Surgeon. If the dog fails to pass theexamination it is ineligible to compete in the relevant Group.

(3) Best in ShowOn 1 January 2015 the Kennel Club suspended the Kennel Club Show Regulations which stipulated thatdogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/StakesClass and that only unbeaten dogs were eligible to compete in the group or best in show competitions.From 1 January 2018 this suspension will be made permanent and included in the F Regulations.Best in Show must be selected from the Best of Group winners provided they are unbeaten. Reserve Bestin Show must be selected from the remaining Group winners following the selection of Best in Show.

(b) Withdrawal from other CompetitionDogs which become eligible for Best of Group and Best in Show may be withdrawn from all other competitionother than breed classes and Best of Breed prior to the competition for Best of Group or Best in Show asappropriate in order to remain unbeaten. A dog beaten in competition for Best of Group or Best in Show maysubsequently be exhibited in all competition for which it was previously eligible. The dogs declared Best inShow and Reserve Best in Show however, must not compete in any subsequent competition. Dogs may bewithdrawn from Any Variety Classes when judged before Breed Classes.

(c) ProvisoFor the purposes of this Regulation, dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny, Braceand Team or a Special Award confined to a single breed, will not be considered to be beaten dogs.

13 ADMISSION TO GROUPS: Exhibits will not be admitted to Group or Best in Show competition after a period of tenminutes has elapsed since the announcement that exhibits are required for judging, unless they have beenunavoidably delayed by previous judging not being completed on time, and then only with the special permission ofthe Show Management.

14 Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them. This is not acceptable. Exhibitors shouldnote that such practice would constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to theCommittee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11.

15 It is not acceptable to handle a dog in a manner which causes its feet not to touch the ground when on the move.Exhibitors should note that such practices could constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will bereferred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11.

16 PREPARATION OF DOGS FOR EXHIBITION: All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation FAnnex B — Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition.

17 OVERSEAS EXHIBITORS: All dogs resident outside the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority toCompete number before entry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority toCompete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor.

18 DOGS IN VEHICLES ON HOT DAYS. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Cluboffers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling to and whilst at Kennel Clublicensed events.• When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy

holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams.• If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all.• The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water

available to drink.• Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog.• When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle.• Keep the dog in the shade — take your own shade, for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of

water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated.• Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths

of time.Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to direresults. Please look after your dog’s welfare.WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK, FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BENECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED.

19 Not For Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry formand must be Kennel Club registered.

20 SCHEDULE AMENDMENTS: No modifications will be made to this schedule except by permission of the GeneralCommittee of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible.

21 EXHIBITOR’S PASSES: Exhibitors will receive a free pass (not transferable) for each dog entered but in the caseof a dog exhibited by a partnership, one extra free pass will be provided. If passes have not been received pleasecontact the printers, Higham Press Ltd. on 01773 832390.

22 FOULING: Any owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is requested to remove immediatelyany fouling caused by their dog(s) at any Kennel Club Licensed Show within the licensed venue and within theenvirons of that event including car and caravan parks and approaches. Adequate receptacles for the disposal ofsuch fouling will be provided by the Society.

23 POWER TO EXCLUDE: The Committee is empowered to exclude or remove any dog which is not in a fit state forexhibition owing to disease, savage disposition or any other cause and the entry fee will be forfeited.

24 EXHIBITS ONLY: No animal other than exhibits may be allowed within the precincts of the Show during thecontinuance of exhibition.

25 RESPONSIBILITY; The Committee will not be in any way responsibile for any claim for injury or compensationoccasioned by or arising out of the holding of the Show, or by reason of the act or default of any person in attendanceor present thereat.

26 DAMAGE: Parents will be held financially responsible for any damage to property or equipment caused by theirchildren within the environs of the Show.

27 BENCHES: Dogs should be present on their benches at all times except when being judged, being prepared forexhibition and/or being exercised. In certain circumstances dogs must be present on their benches at all times ifrequired by the show management. Dogs may be removed from their benches by order of the VeterinarySurgeon, Veterinary Practitioner or Show Management. Under no circumstances may partitions betweendogs be removed.

28 GANGWAYS: All gangways in the marquees MUST BE KEPT CLEAR AT ALL TIMES. Tables etc. are NOT to beplaced in the gangways between the benches.

29 JUDGES: (a) A Judge’s decision shall be final except in a case of fraud or misrepresentation or where a mistakehas been made bona-fide by the judge. (b) Should any judge be prevented from fulfilling his/her engagement theCommittee reserve the right to appoint another to fulfil his/her duties. Exhibitors are at liberty to withdraw fromcompetition but no entry fees can be refunded. It is the policy of the Bath Canine Society not to refund entry fees orsettle any expenses if a change of judge is required in an emergency. (c) The judges are instructed andempowered to withhold the prize in any class, if in their opinion the dog(s) exhibited do not possess sufficient merit.

30 CONVERSATION: Conversation is not allowed in the ring. Exhibitors showing dogs are not allowed to holdconversation with the judge during competition. No persons other than Exhibitors (Officials excepted) will beallowed in the ring during the judging of classes or specials.

31 RING NUMBERS: Every exhibitor shall ensure that whilst the dog is being exhibited, its handler shall display thecorrect ring number.

32 APPEAL: Should any question arise which is not provided for in these Rules and Regulations, the decision of theCommittee shall be final, subject to appeal to the Kennel Club.

33 CANCELLATION OR ABANDONMENT: Entry fees will not be refunded in any circumstance where any act of Godor any other unforeseen reason causes the cancellation or abandonment of the Show after entries have closed.

DEFINITIONS OF CLASSESIn the following Definitions, a Challenge Certificate includes any show award that counts towards the title of Champion

under the rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club.Wins at Championship Shows in breed classes where Challenge Certificates are not on offer shall be counted as wins

at Open Shows.In the case of a dog owned in partnership and entered in Members’ Classes or competing for Members’ Specials, each

partner must at the time of entry be a member of the Society.In estimating the number of awards won, all wins up to and including the seventh day before the date of closing of

Postal entries shall be counted when entering for any class i.e. Friday 20th April 2018.Wins in Variety Classes do not count for entry in Breed Classes, but when entering for Variety Classes, wins in both

Breed and Variety Classes must be counted. A First Prize does not include a Special Prize of whatever value.A dog is not eligible for entry in Variety Classes unless also entered and subsequently exhibited in a Breed Class

where such a class is provided for which it is eligible, as provided in Kennel Club Definitions of Classes.Exemptions from this Regulation are:

On 1 January 2015 the Kennel Club suspended the Kennel Club Show Regulations which stipulated that dogs must beentered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogswere eligible to compete in the group or best in show competitions. From 1 January 2018 this suspension will be madepermanent and included in the F Regulations.

(1) A Puppy, unless a class for dogs under twelve months of age for which it is eligible is provided for the breed.(2) A dog in Any Variety Veteran Class.(3) A dog in Any Variety Champion Class.(4) A dog which is withdrawn from exhibition in breed classes as a result of the appointment of an emergency judge.(5) A dog in YKC Stakes Classes.(6) A dog in Good Citizen Scheme Classes.(7) Exhibits bred by the scheduled breed Judge.If an exhibitor reports before the judging of a class or classes that a dog has been entered which is ineligible, the

exhibitor may choose one of the following options:WithdrawalThe dog may be withdrawn from competition subject to the conditions of Regulations F(1) 9(j) and 20.Transfer(a) If a dog is ineligible for a class or classes as regards its breed, colour, sex, weight or height, the Show Secretary shall

transfer it to the equivalent class or classes for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height and, in the event ofthere being no equivalent class, Minor Puppy and Puppy excepted to the Open class for the correct breed, colour,sex, weight or height.

(b) For an exhibit entered incorrectly in a Minor Puppy Class, Puppy Class or Junior Class, which is over age but under12 calendar months of age, 18 calendar months of age or 24 calendar months of age respectively, the ShowSecretary shall transfer the exhibit to the Puppy Class, Junior Class or Yearling Class respectively for the correctbreed, colour, sex, weight or height and in the event of there being no Puppy, Junior or Yearling Class, to the OpenClass for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height.

(c) For any reason other than the above, the Show Secretary shall transfer it to the Open Class for the correct breed,colour, sex, weight or height.

If an exhibit arrives late and misses a class, even if it is the only class in which the dog is entered, the dog may not betransferred to any other class.MINOR PUPPY—For dogs of six and not exceeding nine calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.PUPPY—For dogs of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.JUNIOR—For dogs of six and not exceeding eighteen calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.YEARLING—For dogs of twelve and not exceeding twenty four calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.NOVICE—For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or three or more First Prizes at Open or Championship Shows

(Minor Puppy, Special Minor Puppy, Puppy and Special Puppy classes excepted, whether restricted or not).GRADUATE—For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or four or more First Prizes at Championship Shows in

Graduate, Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open Classes, whether restricted or not, where ChallengeCertificates were offered for the Breed.

POST GRADUATE—For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or five or more First Prizes at Championship Showsin Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open Classes, whether restricted or not, where Challenge Certificateswere offered for the Breed.

MID LIMIT—For dogs which have not become Show Champions under Kennel Club Regulations or under the rules of anygoverning body recognised by the Kennel Club, or won 3 or more CC/CACIB/CAC/Green Stars or won five or more FirstPrizes in all at Championship Shows in Mid Limit, Limit or Open Classes, confined to the breed, whether restricted or not, atshows where Challenge Certificates were offered for the Breed.

LIMIT—For dogs which have not become Show Champions under Kennel Club Regulations or under the rules of any governingbody recognised by the Kennel Club, or won 3 or more CC/CACIB/CAC/Green Stars or won seven or more First Prizes inall, at Championship Shows in Limit or Open Classes, confined to the Breed, whether restricted or not, at Shows whereChallenge Certificates were offered for the Breed.

OPEN—For all dogs of the breeds for which the class is provided and eligible for entry at the Show.BRACE—For two exhibits (either sex or mixed) of one breed or variety of a breed belonging to the same exhibitor, each exhibit

having been entered in some class other than brace.IMPORTED REGISTER—Where an Interim Breed Standard has been published by The Kennel Club, breeds whose

registration is confined to the Imported Register may be exhibited in this class only, and are ineligible for any othercompetition whatsoever.

AVNSC—For breeds of dogs for which no separate breed classes are scheduled.NOT FOR COMPETITION—Not For Competition entries will be accepted from any breed for any day of the Show.Entries to be

made prior to the closing date for entries to the show. Regulation F.1.c. Only dogs of six calendar months of age and overon the first day of the show are eligible for exhibition at Kennel Club licensed shows. However societies may accept Not forCompetition entries at their discretion and dogs aged four calendar months of age and over are eligible to enter Not forCompetition at all Kennel Club licensed Shows. Furthermore dogs aged four calendar months and over are eligible to entermatch competitions.

YKC STAKES—Only dogs of six (6) calendar months of age and over on the day of competition are eligible for entry into a YKCqualifying stakes class. Dogs must be on the Kennel Club Breed Register to compete in a YKC stakes competition. The firstplaced member only in each dog group at the qualifying show will qualify for Crufts. A rosette will be awarded. If a memberis disqualified, the qualification does not roll down to the next placing. All pedigree dogs are eligible to take part provided thedog is registered on the Kennel Club Breed Register. The dog must be registered a) solely or jointly in the member’s nameor b) in the name of a close member of the family (i.e. a group of people related by blood or by marriage) and under thesecircumstances the dog must be resident at the YKC member’s address. No substitute handlers are permitted — the dogmust be handled by the registered YKC member. Members are not permitted to allow another individual to show their dog atthe qualifier on their behalf if they are not able to attend the class, unless agreed by the YKC Office prior to the show.Members must be aged 6 - 24 years (members 6 years and up to, but not including 25th birthday). Please note thatmembership of the YKC terminates on a member’s 25th birthday. Therefore if a member is aged 25 years or over by the firstday of Crufts they will be unable to compete in any YKC class. Please keep this in mind when entering qualifiers throughoutthe competing year. In order to enter any YKC competition you must be a fully paid up member at the time of entry andcompetition. If you enter a Crufts qualifier and you have not previously paid your membership fee then any award will be forfeitedTherefore it is important to renew and maintain YKC membership as current if you wish to participate in YKC competitions.

VETERAN—For dogs of not less than seven years of age on the first day of the Show.CHAMPION—For dogs which have been confirmed a Champion, Show Champion or Field Trial Champion. Champion classes

may not be scheduled for individual breeds or varieties of breeds.SPECIAL BEGINNERS—For owner, handler or exhibit not having won a Challenge Certificate or Reserve Challenge Certificate, or

for those breeds not allocated Championship Status, Best of Sex or Reserve Best of Sex at a Championship Show.SPECIAL BREEDERS—For dogs bred by the exhibitor. Exhibits declared Best of Breed who are entered in this class and are

subsequently beaten will NOT be disqualified from competing for Best in Group/Best in Show.AV GOOD CITIZEN DOG SCHEME—For dogs that have achieved their GCDS Bronze Award certificate or above.

EXHIBITORS IN YEARLING CLASS ARE REQUESTED TO NOTE THE DEFINITION OF THIS CLASS

REGULATIONS FOR THE PREPARATION OF DOGS FOR EXHIBITION F(B)1 These Regulations must be observed when a dog is prepared for exhibition and/or exhibited at any Kennel Club Licensed

event. Objections may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under these Show Regulations and/orfor disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rule A42.(a) A dog found to have been exhibited in breach of these Regulations will automatically be disqualified from exhibition at

the show and from any award gained thereat.(b) Unless the exhibitor provides a satisfactory explanation for the dog being exhibited in breach of these Regulations

then he/she may be subject to further penalties of either a fine or as listed under Rule A 42.2 (a) No substance which alters the natural colour, texture or body of the coat may be present in the dog’s coat for any

purpose at any time during the Show. No substance which alters the natural colour of any external part of the dog maybe present on the dog for any purpose at any time during the Show.

(b) Any other substance (other than water) which may be used in the preparation of a dog for exhibition must not beallowed to remain in the coat or on any other part of the dog at the time of exhibition.

3 No act or operation which alters the natural conformation of a dog or any part thereof may be performed except:(a) Operations certified to the satisfaction of the General Committee.(b) The removal of dewclaws of any breed.(c) Operations to prevent breeding, provided that such operations are notified to the Kennel Club before neutered dogs

are shown.Nor must anything be done calculated to in the opinion of the General Committee to deceive.

4 The General Committee without previous notice may order an examination of any dog or dogs at any Show. Anyexamination thus ordered will be made by a person having executive authority who shall have a written directive from theKennel Club in their possession. Samples may be taken for further examination and analysis.

5 An individual has the right to lodge an objection to a dog only if he/she is the owner or handler of a dog competing in thesame breed or class, an objection may, however, be lodged by an official of the Show or by anyone so deputed by theKennel Club. It will be the responsibility of the individual who lodges the objection or the official (as appropriate) tosubstantiate the grounds for the objection. The Kennel Club will substantiate the grounds for an objection made on its behalf.

6 Any objection by an individual related to an infringement of these Regulations must be made in writing to the ShowSecretary at his/her office before the close of the Show and the individual must produce evidence of identity at the time oflodging the complaint.
