About the ProjectMaranoa Regional Council is inviting submissions from suitably qualified artists to create artwork outdoors on a large besser brick wall situated at Bassett Park on Northern Road, Roma, South-West Queensland. The wall is approximately 100 metres long and 2.6 metres high. Due to extreme environmental factors experienced in South-West Queensland, the applicant must consider materials used to ensure the finished product will withstand tough weather conditions.

Bassett Park is the region’s largest recreational facility. The venue is used for a number of private and public events throughout the year, including race meets, camp drafts, rodeos, rugby league and rugby union games, as well as the annual Roma Show.

The wall is perfectly situated for outdoor artwork as it is located on the northern entry to Roma on route from the Roma Airport and experiences a daily traffic count of above 3,000 vehicles.

Artists working on any/all mediums are encouraged to apply – applications that display a commitment to quality public artworks, developing and integrating community and public space, as well as strengthening community ties through contributing to the unique history of the region, will be highly considered.
