Basildon RFC Results Pages Section 2. Youth Under 13 18th October 2009 Basildon 50 Millwall 10 The lads put in a good performance to see off the challenge of the physically bigger Millwall side and run out convincing winners 25th October 2009 Half-term, no fixture

Under 14 13th September 2009 Basildon 0 Rochford 41 Basildon started the match with great determination and guts, and even though they had three new players in their squad, they put Rochford under a lot of pressure. Rochford had the bigger back row and Basildon struggled to compete with them. Rochford scored three break away tries in the first half with a further four tries and three conversions in the second half even though Basildon played most of the game in Rochfords half of the pitch. Basildon were unlucky in the second half when Kyle McLaughlin chipped through for Callum Ainsley to chase. Callum was pushed off the ball but Basildon couldn’t convert the penalty into a try. Basildon’s 15 boys worked really hard for each other and even though Rochford had 30 boys Basildon were by no means over run by Rochford as the score flattered to deceive. Under 17 18th October 2009 Basildon 10 Chelmsford 17 Basildon had a difficult day all round. Firstly Chelmsford arrived without an adequate front row and scrums had to be ‘uncontested’. Then it seemed like Chelmsford were getting ‘the rub of the green’ from the referee with the lads feeling like they lost every 50-50 decision. Finally a bad tempered

Basildon RFC Results Pages incident resulted in Basildon having a man dismissed for foul play. With only 14 men for most of the game the lads were unable to muster the a win.

25th October 2009 Half-term, no fixture

Basildon RFC Results Pages Section 3. Minis U6, 7 & 8 4th October 2009 Basildon V Burnham As the Burnham U8’s had gone to play Maldon, Basildon played Burnham U6 & 7 which turned out a good match as Basildon had very young players on the day as well. Basildon won all the games, however the result was secondary as most of the children were focused on enjoying themselves. There were lots of new players on show for both sides

25th October 2009 three way fixture with Rochford and South Woodham Ferrers Our little ones did their best in both games. Although they did not win against either Rochford or SWF, they managed to score tries in both their games and enjoyed their day.

Basildon RFC Results Pages 25th October 2009 three way fixture with Rochford and South Woodham Ferrers In their best games so far Basildon beat South Woodham by a couple of clear scores and lost narrowly to the hosts Rochford with lots of the players showing improvements since their last outing. The children, parents and coaches were very proud of their achievements on the day. The effort was so good from them all that they will all share the credit for an impressive team performance.

Basildon RFC Results Pages U11 & 12 4th October 2009 Basildon 5 Burnham 19 This week saw our Under 12’s travel to Burnham, with several new players who had the opportunity to impress with a number of our regular stalwarts out through injury. The lads started well and it soon became apparent that Basildon meant business with the pack proving to be dominant in the early exchanges and gaining most of the territory and possession; they also seemed to getting the best of the decisions because of their discipline around the contact area. Some very strong scrimmaging from the front row of Liam Ryan, Ben Clarke and hooker Rob Carter meant that Burnham didn’t win one scrum in the first half. Sadly, pressure was not turned into points and a break-away try for Burnham gave them the lead. Basildon soon replied with some fine work by No 8 Cameron Miguel, who made a number of penetrating runs into the opposition half and was rewarded by a well worked try before half time. A narrowly missed conversion left the half-time score at 7-5 to Burnham The second half proved to be harder work for Basildon, with Burnham working hard in the scrum to retain some of their own ball and making some very good attacks around the fringes. Basildon’s defence worked hard, but two more tries and a conversion for Burnham were too much for a Basildon team who never gave up, but just couldn’t get over the try line. 11th October 2009 Basildon 56 Chelmsford (b) 14

A good win for Basildon this week with some very good attacking rubgy and solid defence. An early try from No8 Cameron Miguel started the scoring early for the home team and although Chelmsford pulled the score level soon after, the rest of the game was one-way traffic, with Damien Boyle in the second row making lots of yardage in the tight phases and scrum-half Finlay Munro moving the back line well to allow some nice running by Joe Green, Jarrod Johnfinn, Michael McLaughlin, Christian Bohea and new recruit Daniel Adams. Chelmsford managed a consolation try late in the second half, but never looked like coming back into the game with 8 well taken tries from: Cameron Miguel (4), Damien Boyle (2), Finlay Munro and Christian Bohea; Michael McLaughlin kicked all 8 conversions. 25th October 2009 Basildon vs Rochford & South Woodham Ferrers This weekend saw the under 12’s travelling away to Rochford with 6 of their regular experienced players unavailable to play two very strong sides in Rochford & South Woodham Ferrers. Basildon 12, Rochford 35. The first match against Rochford started well when Basildon caught the kick off and worked the ball wide through several pairs of hands to Joe Green, who ran down the wing and in for a try, fending of several tackles in the process! Rochford soon pulled back two converted tries with some slick back play, but a well worked try & conversion by Michael McLaughlin kept the visitors in close contention at half-time. Rochford started to pull clear in the second half with some slick passing in the backs, although their forwards were always in a contest with Basildon’s pack. However, 4 converted tries in the second half was too much for Basildon to come back from. Basildon 0, South Woodham Ferrers 14 Basildon got off to a slow start allowing South Woodham Ferrers to score two early tries. Once they picked themselves up this turned into a hard fought and fairly equal game. Some strong work in the forwards from Cameron Miguel, Ben Clark & Damien Boyle kept Basildon moving forward and good

Basildon RFC Results Pages support work from scrum-half Joe Green meant that they were always threatening. However, they failed to turn pressure into points and had to settle for a 0-0 second-half score-line. There were some good first time performances from new players Adrian Ishmail, Tom England, Lochlan Chamberlin, Rhys Pin and Shea O’Conner, that show what a good squad we are starting to assemble.
