4. Synapse help

1. Open Synapse 2. Go to Help3. Click on Synapse Help4. Another box will open up

5. Synapse folders

Under the User’s folder

-You can create, rename, delete folders-Create a folder under a folder-View the folder tree-Add items in the User’s folder

6. Select a folder• All recent studies - contains all studies occurring

within the last seven days. This list is sorted by the Study Date and Time.

• All studies - contains a list of all studies• Dictated studies – Contains a list of studies that have

been marked “Dictated” by the radiologist within the last seven days. Sorted by Study Date and Time.

• All Patients – contains all patients which have or will have a study performed.

6. Sorting methods• Sorting is designed as an aid for filtering.• Click on one of the columns(Patient Name,

Accession Number., etc.).• Ascending and Descending order• If there is an error about having is too much

data, you will need run the filter again.

7. Referred Studies

• Contains a list of studies requested by the ordering radiologist or clinician.

8. Open a Study

• Highlight study and double click on the study row. The study/series images are displayed. For series, the first image for the series appears.

• Multiple users can access the same study simultaneously

9. Navigating through images

• Images are organized by a “page” concept.• Click on mouse wheel up to scroll one row or image forward and

down to scroll one row or image backward.• Keyboard can be used to scroll:

– Page up scrolls one page backward.– Page down scrolls one page forward– Left arrow scrolls one column backward– Right arrow scrolls one column forward– Up arrow scrolls one row backward– Down arrow scrolls one row forward– Home returns to the first row with the first image– End goes to the last row with the last image

• Power Jacket – Patient Master Information Jacket and all information associated with the selected patient

• Study Information (ALT + I) • Reports (ALT + R)• Notes (ALT + N)• Documents (ALT + U)• Series Picker (ALT + E)• Dictate, Next (F8)• Skip, Next (F9)

– Click and hold left mouse and drag and drop into another window.

– Create a copy of a series in another window

With the cursor on an image, click the right mouse button to access the Image Tool menu

14. Viewing notes

• Move the mouse to top of the window to display the Explorer Toolbar and left click on the Notes icon.

• Or open Power Jacket and left click on the Notes icon (ALT + N)

15. “Back” vs. “up” folder buttons

Clicking the BACK button, enables user to go back a page.

16. Log off Procedures

• Manual log off – Click the File menu in Explorer tool bar and select Log off Synapse.

• Right mouse-click on the Synapse icon and select “Log off Synapse.”
