1 INTRODUCTION This document presents information about basic KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators), RNC Parameters and some Counters for WCDMA radio network revision P5 of Ericsson implementation, and intends to facilitate and reduce the time spent for searching this information through databases and serve as a quick guide for learners and beginners. Each part has a little introduction and then lists the information, with a little description and formulas or default values.

2 Parameters The parameters in the WCDMA RAN serve, basically, to provide control and set the way the radio network works, such as enabling RABs, setting the time triggers and thresholds, setting the power control and availability of channels. Be aware that each network can have a different setting, and the default values are not necessarily the best or the recommended setting by Ericsson.

2.1 Power Control

maxFach1Power 18 (1.8 dB) Maximum power, to be used for transmitting the first FACH channel, relative the primaryCpichPower value. The first FACH is used for logical channels BCCH, CCCH and DCCH, control signaling.

pchPower -4 (-0.4 dB) Maximum power to be used for transmitting the PCH, relative to the primaryCpichPower value.

pichPower -7 (dB) PICH power is the power to be used for transmitting on the physical channel carrying the paging indicators, relative to the primaryCpichPower value.

constantValueCprach -27 (dB) Constant value used by the UE to calculate the initial power on PRACH according to the Open loop power control procedure.

dlPcMethod 3 (Balancing) Selects the DL power control method at establishment of the radio connection.

ulInitSirTargetHigh 82 (8.2 dB) Required UL Initial SIR target for the RAB having minimum SF equal to or lower than 16.

ulInitSirTargetLow 49 (4.9 dB) Required UL Initial SIR target for the RAB having minimum SF equal to or higher than 32.

individualOffset 0 (dB) Used in UE function event-reporting. This offset is added to the measured quantity before the UE evaluates if an event has occurred. The parameter is used both for signaling over RRC and RNSAP.

maxActiveSet 3 Maximum number of cells in active set. This attribute also controls the reporting deactivation threshold, used to control intra-frequency measurements (event 1a). Reporting deactivation threshold = maxActiveSet-1. The attribute also controls the replacement activation threshold, used to control intra-frequency measurements (event 1c). Replacement activation threshold = maxActiveSet.

usedFreqThresh2dEcno -11 (dB) Threshold for event 2d for the used frequency when the measurement quantity is Ec/No.

downswitchPwrMargin 2 (1 dB) Margin, in relation to maximum allowed code power, which indicates a high power usage.

reportHysteresis 6 (3 dB) Reporting hysteresis for the code power measurements in the node B.

downswitchTimerThreshold 0 (kbps) Timer threshold to achieve hysteresis for channel switching from dedicated channel to FACH/RACH This value should always be greater than or equal to the value of downswitchThreshold.

downswitchThreshold 0 (kbps) Threshold for channel switching from dedicated channel to FACH/RACH. This value should always be less than or equal to the value of downswitchTimerThreshold.

inactivityTimer 30 (s) Time not including data transmission, after which UTRAN will send IU RELEASE REQUEST message to the CN for UEs in state CELL_FACH.

hsdschInactivityTimer 10 (s) Timer for sending of IU RELEASE REQUEST message to the CN for UE connections in RAB state PS Interactive 64/HS - HS-DSCH. The value 7200 seconds is used only for testing purposes.

2.4 Capacity Management

4.14 Ping Success Rate This KPI shows the number of successful ping responses during the test. The following events and information elements are used to define sessions and pings. Only pings within a session are recorded.

• Session Start Event = "Session Start" and Eventinfo = “Ping”

• Session End Event = "Session End"

• Session Drop/Abnormal Release

o Drop Event1 = "Session Error"

o Drop Event2 = "RRC Connection Abnormal Release. Dropped Call"

• Successful Ping Event = "Ping Response. Ping Success"

• Failed Ping Event = "Ping Response. Ping Timeout”
