The first exploration to the underground cave of the Hinatuan
Enchanted River was made by Alex Santos in 1999.[4]The major
exploration to the underground cave system started eleven years
later when a group of three cave divers led by Dr.Alfonso
Amoreswith team members Bernil Gastardo and Emgee Guillermo entered
the cave in February 2010. The major exploration led to the
discovery of a hidden underground cave opening at 30 meters
depth.[5]Succeeding expeditions have been made that led to the
discovery of the underwater cave's chamber. During its sixth
expedition on June 17, 2014, Dr. Amores perished after failing to
exit the narrow entrance to the cave due to a cardiac arrest at
40-meter depth inside the narrow tunnel to the Mayor's Chamber of
the underground cave in the Hinatuan Enchanted
River.[6][7]Explorations have continued on March 2015 aiming to
discover its unexplored area beyond its 82 meters depth and is now
led by Bernil Gastardo under contract withGIZ,University of San
Carlos-Biology Department, andDENR-BMBunder the project Hinatuan
Enchanted River Underwater Cave System Rapid Source Assessment
(HERUCS).[4]Beginning on March 20, a collaborative 5-day assessment
and mapping of the ecosystem was conducted by the University of San
Carlos and the Filipino Cave Divers (FCD).[4]Legends[edit]The
river's unusual colors and unexplored depths has inspired various
local legends. One story tell of fairies that added the colors of
sapphire and jade to the river to make its unique shade. Local
fisherfolk also report seeing fish in the river that cannot be
caught through any means.[1]According to locals, the river was
called the Enchanted River because of theengkantosthat dwell
there.[8]Their legends also say that the river is haunted by
supernatural beings which act as its protectors.[9]

Pinakakilalang puntahan sa Hinatuan ang Enchanted River, isang
blue lagoon na nasa gitna ng mga kabundukan at kagubatan. Parang
isang nakatagong paraiso, ang tubig ng ilog ay may pinaghalong
tubig tabang at tubig alat na mula sa Dagat Pasipiko.

kung bakit siya tinatawag na Enchanted River... Una dahil obviously
blue ang kulay ng tubig niya... Pangalawa pagdating na pagdating mo
dn eh di mo aakalaing Enchanted River na pala yun kasi napakaliblib
talaga niya at mismong makikita mong nature itself hid it from
aliens like us.. char english yun.. hahaha... Pangatlo magtataka ka
una dahil di mo inaasahang running water pala yun pero ang malaking
katanungan saan galing ang tubig... Pang-apat kung paanong naging
80 ft ang lalim ng river.. and so on and so forth.. basta
madami...
Nagmadali kaming pumunta ddon kasi gusto naming masaksihan ang
Fish Feeding na sinasabi nilang isa sa mga attraction ng Echanted
River at di nga kami nabigo.. eksaktong pagdating namin dun eh
pinapakain na yung mga isda na nakatira sa doon...Nakipagagawan pa
ako niyan para naman makalapit sa malalaking isda at maganda sa mga
tao doon ay disiplinado at takagang pinapahalagahan nila yung
kalikasan.. dahil una tulad niyan pinapakain talaga nila yung mga
isda at may eksaktong oras pa... Pinapatunog nila yung bell at alam
na ng mga isda na kakain na sila... tas yung mga naliligo ay
pinapaakyat muna nila para daw di madisturbo yung mga isda... tas
mas background music pa yung mga isda, parang chanting ewan di ko
maintindihan yung lyrics basta yung sa may chorus part lang yung
may "Mindanao bigay ng bathala..." something...Pangalawa yung mga
tao doon ay may disiplina din sa kanilang mga basura.. Kaya nga
nanalo sila last year sa may pinakamalinis na syudad sa buong
Pilipinas... kita ko pa yung picture nila...
