Basic Chronology of Indian History On Bell Curve, positions: 1) Colonial Version (no longer in use) – Indus Valley destroyed during Aryan Invasion of 1500 BCE, no names of Indians before Emperor Asoka (Buddha may not be historical), epics pure mythology, Indians are ignorant “3 rd -Worlders” who have no sense of history and need Westerners to manage their affairs (“White Man’s Burden”). 2) Rare Textbook Version - Indus Valley (definitely Dravidian) -> Aryan Invasion at 1500 BCE -> no names of Indians before the Buddha; Epics pure mythology – no Indian sources are credible since Indians have no sense of history. 3) Most Common Textbook Version – Harappa/Indus Valley (may be Dravidian) -> Aryan Invasion/Migration (2000 to 1500 BCE) -> no names of Indians before the Buddha; Epics may be real, but chronology of 800+ BCE for MBH and Ramayana perhaps 900 BCE. No evidence for AIT/AMT and great deal of evidence directly contradicting it – many historians stepping back from AIT now and leaving ‘Aryan Question’ open. 4) Chronology most supported by evidence (Indian Civ all within 10,000 years: 8000 BCE to today); detailed approx. chronology of all names of Kings and Priests and events – backed by literary and archaeo evidence.

Basic Chronology of Indian History

On Bell Curve, positions:

1) Colonial Version (no longer in use) – Indus Valley destroyed during Aryan Invasion of 1500 BCE, no names of Indians before Emperor Asoka (Buddha may not be historical), epics pure mythology, Indians are ignorant “3rd-Worlders” who have no sense of history and need Westerners to manage their affairs (“White Man’s Burden”).

5) Chronology based on MBH of 3100 BCE (3100 MBH leads to 5000 BCE Ramayana, 7000 BCE Dasharajnya, 9000 BCE Emperor Bharata, 10,000+ BCE Vivasvata, 11k-15k BCE for pre-Vivasvata lists?) – problem is there is no archaeo evidence before 8000 BCE for any CIV at all, and how to reconcile sketchy astronomical data for 3100 BCE?, ‘3100 dogma’ actually based upon simple misuse of Aryabhatt’s terminology, how to reconcile 3100 with Buddha data? 1800 BCE date for Buddha is contradicted by actual evidence and 1800 BCE to dated events in early BCE cannot have on thousand + years gap.

6) Chronology based on simple reading of Yugas - 100,000’s or Lakhs of years of history

7) Chronology based on literal translation of Maha-Yugas – Millions of years of history
