Dalme G Momin is a boy of 22 years of age hails from Rongtatma , Rongara, in the dist of south Garo Hills, Meghalaya state. He left schooling on his unable to pass the SSLCE. Like many other drop-out boys he had nothing but go about aimless. He came in acquaintance with the advertisement regarding the non-formal education on automobile (three months course) with offer of placement after the training from his friends.

The training period was fruitful and saw him eager to learn and achieve his goal. He attended his classes and did well in his tests. He had wished to learn new things and asked for it.He always took part in Co-curriculum activities that were conducted from time to time. He secured a position in singing competition. He participated in the Saturday evening programs that were held. He has the capability to lead so during activities he always led his colleagues or his group.

The financial challenge was always there and the negative talks of his neighbour and friends but he stepped ahead and continued with his training.

He had an ambition to achieve his goal to be someone in life and also be a source of inspiration for his village friends so that they too can step forward in life. Now he is working at Marikar Motors Ltd, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

Gopi D Shira a boy of 19 yrs of age hails from Panda Chikasin, Panda in the District of South Garo Hills, Meghalaya. Having dropped from schooling due to financial problem and helping his father in cultivation he had nothing to do but stay at home feeling helpless at his state. In the midst of all this he came in acquaintance with the advertisement regarding the non-formal education on automobile (three months course) with offer of placement after the training. The Non-formal course saw him a hard working boy. He was enthusiastic about his goal and worked hard towards achieving his goal. The training period was fruitful for him. He was eager to learn and did not miss his classes. He did well in tests conducted from time to time. He also did well in other activities and always took part in Co-curriculum activities that were conducted from time to time. He secured a position in singing competition. The Saturday evening programs that were held saw him participate enthusiastically. He has the capability to lead so during activities he always led his colleagues or his group. The financial challenge was always there because there was no other means other than cultivation and the thought for his siblings so that they can continue their studies, he had to manage his financial needs taking help of his friends and his neighbour.He had an ambition to be become a good automobile mechanic and, his eagerness grew when he heard his placement at Marikar Motors Ltd. Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He expressed his gratitude, “Thank You, for helping me achieve my goal”. At present he is working at Marikar motors Ltd, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

Mongol M Marak aged 22yrs hails from Chondonpara, PO Borkona in the district of South west Garo Hills, Meghalaya. He left his schooling not being able clear the SSLC test examination. He came to know of non-formal education through sources and friends. So he decided to go for the three months training.The training period saw him to be a guy who did not talk much but was interested in his own aim. He was regular for his course. Apart from his classes he also took part in other co-curriculum activities and found expression that he was skilled and can make an impact through participating in the programs be it be an individual or as group.Amidst problems such as financial, fear of big cities through encouragement he had the will to go forward in life and be a successful man. He is placed at Kay Bouvet Engg. Ltd. Satara.

Emlang Dkhar from Lumshnong village of East Jaintia Hills, District, Meghalaya was born to a poor family of eleven. He was the sixth sibling. After his father, the main bread earner, passed away three years back his family was finding it very hard to make ends meet. Though his elder brother and two of his sisters are running a small business to support the family, he also decided to lend a hand after failing his matriculation, since it was becoming very hard for him to pursue his studies due to the financial constraint.Emlang came to know about DB Tech when he came to Bosco Pnar, Jowai to enquire about the electrical training for his friend. As he was going through the notice board he saw the advertisement about the free training provided by DB Tech for border area dropout students and then and there decided to enrol himself into the hospitality course for three months from June -14 to September 14 of 2014.Emlang relates his training here at DB Tech, Bosco Pnar as “the most wonderful” and “most enjoyable experience” of his life. He says, DB Tech gave him a chance to learn many new things apart from the technical training, like self respect, value of time, communication in English, Hindi and also a little bit of French. He says after coming to this training, his whole perspective towards life and his future has changed.Initially he was surprised and doubtful too, towards the training, as it was only for three months and that also with a job guarantee, however after being placed at Paradise Resort, Kumbakonam, Tamilnadu, with a starting salary of 5000/- per month along with food and accommodation he was elated and thrilled at having received this opportunity. Emlang says he will strive hard to be successful and to support his family and ensure that his younger brothers and sisters have a chance to complete their studies. If given the chance he also plan on going abroad after garnering much experience and financial stability.Emlang is thankful to each and every staff of DB Tech, Bosco Pnar for instilling in him the desire to ‘believe’ once again.

Shalgets Diengngan who hails from a village called Maweit, an interior place in the district of West Khasi Hills District, Meghalaya is able to change his life after he came to know about DB Tech. He actually belongs to a very poor family where his parents could hardly earn the daily bread. He wanted to study further but due to financial scarcity in the family his parents could not support him to study further as a result he remains idle waiting for opportunities to come.His destiny got U-turned when he came to know about DB Tech and its programs. Before coming to centre he inquired thoroughly about DB Tech and cleared his every doubts and ambiguity over a phone. He showed interest in joining ISMO at Mawkasiang centre.On 02, November, 2014, he came to Mawkasiang centre where his three months journey was going to start and which supposed to change his life. From the beginning of the sessions itself, he remain dedicated in learning and developing in the domain. As per trainers he was quick to learn as he was very focused towards the training. His discipline and morality set an example for others. In short, he became the ‘Idol’ for the dropout youths of the region. He always engaged himself in extracurricular activities very actively and participates in every single competition. His performance was very impressive in every field and aspects. Throughout the 90 days training, he undergoes rigorous training and developed expertise in the field.After the completion of the training, he was placed in Cotton Blossom Pvt Ltd, Tirrupur, Tamilnadu, India and he working there as a Industrial Sewing Machine Operator. And his monthly earning is around 4831/- per month. He is happily working there since the day of his joining the organisation. Now he is leading respectable and joyful life.His parents and siblings are also very happy as they are getting a financial support from him. And for all these he remains grateful to DB Tech and also to Nirmali Society of Christ Jesus, Mawkasiang Centre.

Slebar A Marak aged 18yrs hails from inolgre, PO Rongara in the district of South Garo Hills, Meghalaya. He left his schooling having failed the SSLC test examination. He had nothing to do but to go about aimless in his village with his friends. He came to know of non-formal education through sources and friends. The training period saw him interested in his vocation. He attended his classes and did well in his tests. His eagerness helped him to learn his skills better. He took part in Co-curriculum activities that were conducted from time to time. He participated in programs that were held in the hostel from time to time. The financial challenge was always there because his father is a farmer and had to depend on cultivation. The fear of going out in city areas, fear of his parents on how he will be in big towns and the talks of his neighbour and friends but he stepped ahead and continued with his training.He had an ambition to be self-independent and achieve his goal and also be a source of inspiration for his village friends so that they too can step forward in life. He is placed at Kay Bouvet Engg. Ltd, Satara.

Abisha Pohthmi, a 19 year old from the Rural Village of Padu Mawsku, West Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya, was a hardworking student who was smart, witty and charismatic. These traits along with good communications skills made her ideal for a position as a front office staff. These qualities helped her in attaining placement at The Royal County Club in Proddatur, Andhra Pradesh. Abisha had left for the destination with 5 other fellow trainees at the start of February 2015 and is till date enjoying her time there. Abisha was a student who had failed her class XII exam on the first attempt. She wanted to try again the following year but then she received news of DBTech and the training programme that they were conducting at RRTC, Umran. On hearing about the NGO and the free training in Hospitality they were providing, Abisha immediately decided to contact one of the trainers at the centre and enrol into the training program as soon as possible. She was a good student who could master lessons well and so therefore she eased through the 3 months program. She was stepping out of her village for the first time when she enrolled with DBTech. But after the training she took an even bigger step but opting to go out for placement. Thus the 3 months training was instrumental in her development from a simple and shy girl to one who was steaming with confidence. She grew as a person whilst in training and from then on she never looked back to her former self. At the present workplace Abisha is determined to perform well and make an impression on her employers and colleagues.Abisha is an example of perseverance amidst hardships and is a beacon of hope for those who meet with difficulties in their lives. At the tender age of 14, Abisha lost both her parents and from there on lived with her grandmother along with her two younger brothers. She toiled through school and did well till she met with failure for the first time in her class XII exam. In the training programme she did exceptionally well in both Theory and practical classes. Here, she also faced difficulties but endured every single one and is now reaping the rewards of her struggles.

Ericson Khongdup, a promising trainee from the Umran Centre, has been identified by his trainers as one who possesses a lot of potential and leadership qualities, he is currently employed at Royal County Club, Proddatur in Andhra Pradesh where he started work on the 8th Feb 2015. At his workplace the employers were very contented with his eloquence, his mannerisms, and his drive to work hard and endure the most difficult of situations. He is being ranked as an F & B Trainee with the most promise from amidst his peers, but despite the praises and salutations, Ericson still remains as humble as always.Ericson’s good fortunes and appraisals were however not so easily earned but were the result of sheer hard work and determination. Being compelled to stop school after completing his Class XII exams due to his family’s plight in financial issues, Ericson had to pitch in and ease the pressure off his father in supporting the family. Working as a labourer, farmer, harvester, as well as a tourist guide in the famous village of Mawlynnong which is his home, Ericson supported the family’s needs. He was known in his village as a successful tour guide, one who was trustworthy, helpful and smart. His communication skills were good and it proved to be an important attribute for being a tour guide. However Ericson wanted a change of lifestyle and wanted to embark on an adventure and so he thought this adventure of a lifetime could only be realised if he joined DBTech. Ericson was elegant, respectable and intelligent, which were key attributes for Hospitality, of which he opted to join. He also possessed a good command over the English Language which further made him an ideal fit for the Service sector. On joining the hospitality course in the Umran Centre, Ericson gained the favour of his trainers as well as of the father-in- charge at the centre, who trusted him with the hardest of task. He excelled in his duties and was the ‘go-to’ person from amidst his classmates. He was a leader in class and outdoor activities as well. But despite the immense expectations from him, Ericson always delivers the desired results each time.Before going on his journey for placement, Ericson visited the Umran centre and thanked all the people who were responsible for his upbringing. “I Thank God everyday for giving me this opportunity and am eternally grateful to my Trainers for my development. My gratitude to DBTech for the opportunities rendered to the unemployed youths such as myself”.
