BASC MANAGEMENT AND SECURITY CONTROL SYSTEM BOOKLET
At ISCO, we constantly make every effort to ensure security in our processes. For this
reason, we periodically evaluate and control our personnel, resources and information
that may be misused, and we keep traceability and records of all our processes. This
commitment to security is based on the World BASC Organization standards.
WHAT IS BASC?
BASC is a program of cooperation among business, customs authorities, governmental
agencies and international organizations to promote safe
practices throughout the supply chain in international trade of
goods.
Business Alliance for Secure Commerce.
WHAT IS THE BASC OBJECTIVE?
Promote activities aimed at preventing illegal activities such as smuggling of goods,
narcotics and terrorism, in companies.
Standardize the global supply chain security procedures in companies.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO IMPLEMENT BASC CRITERIA?
Because it allows securing and facilitating global commerce.
Because it strengthens the cargo control and monitoring so that
the cargo can reach final destination without problems related to
criminal acts.
Because it makes the supply chain faster and more secure, which
has allowed reducing drug smuggling and preventing shipments
from being contaminated.
HOW CAN YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE BASC MANAGEMENT AND SECURITY
CONTROL SYSTEM?
Complying with the security procedures at the loading point.
Complying with the appropriate inspection and sealing procedures in order to maintain the
container and trailer integrity, inspecting empty containers before stuffing and trucks (front
wall, left-hand/right-hand side, floor, interior/exterior roof,
interior/exterior doors and container’s exterior).
Complying with the appropriate sealing procedure and using high
security seals (ISO 17712).
Complying with the procedures for recognizing and reporting any
event of compromised seals to the authorities.
WHAT ELSE CAN YOU DO TO CONTRIBUTE TO SUPPLY CHAIN SECURITY?
Note changes in your workmates and friends’ conduct and/or unjustified exterior signs of
wealth.
Report any illegal act or suspicion about an illegal act to the authorities.
Do not allow the improper use of seals and passwords.
Ensure that confidential information is always protected against access by unauthorized
persons.
WHY MUST YOU HAVE A CERTIFIED BASC MANAGEMENT AND SECURITY
CONTROL SYSTEM?
The implementation of a Management and Security Control
System gives your organization’s processes high standards of
security against criminal acts such as smuggling of goods,
narcotics and terrorism, which are the main threats to the
international supply chain. That is why the adoption of such
international standard through BASC certification/approval
allows maintaining a faster and more secure supply chain (www.bascperu.org).
