ACTIVITIES FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2019-2020
ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED DURING THE ODD SEMESTER 2019-2020
1. The college has initiated towards “GREEN CAMPUS”– Complete ban of single use
plastics in the premises. In this connection Sri Ananda Tirtha, Member of B.PAC
addressed the staff regarding the action plan to be implemented on 3rd August 2019.
2. Unflu of “Towards Green Campus Banner” by Dr.B.S.Ragini Narayan,
Chairperson and Dr.Nanda.N, Principal on 7th August 2019 on the occasion of
Students Inaugural Function followed by plantation of saplings as an implementation
of action plan towards Green Campus.
In connection with promotion of Swatch Bharath and Green Campus on the
occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhiji, NSS in association with
B.PAC initiated 6 Hours training in Certificate level Green Ambassador
Programme. Ms. Sushma Mahabala, Member of BPAC & Trainer of GAP addressed
the volunteers and briefed them about the solid waste management.
ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED DURING THE EVEN SEMESTER -2020
1. GREEN EVENT
Initiation to conduct our college JanapadaJathre Event as a Green Event was discussed and
Invitation of JanapadaJathre was given Sri Ananda Thirtha, Member of B.PAC
2. Go Green Awareness and Poster Release Programme
Creating awareness to achieve Green Campus, Zero Waste and Green Event inside the
college premises a Go Green Posters was released by Principal Dr. N. Nanda on 3rd February
2020.
3. Go Green Campus Awareness Programme to Non-Teaching and Housekeeping Staff
Sri Ananda Thirtha, Member of B.PAC addressed the staff regarding the action plan to be
implemented to have a Green Campus Green Event, Zero Waste Management, Responsible
disposal of waste, No Single use plastic, Manage Waste during the events, Setting of extra
bins inside the campus, Replace Plastic Cups, Plates, Spoons with Steel and other metal was
discussed and created awareness among the members.
4. Inauguration of Vegetable Garden
Go Green Campus in association with Department of B.Voc-RM Inaugurated Vegetable
Garden inside the college campus by sowing seeds of various vegetables and greens to
encourage students to grow plants of different varieties. Vegetable Garden was inaugurated
by Sri.Aviram Sharma BMSET Trustee and Dr.N.Nanda Principal BMS College for Women
on 5th February 2020.
Go Green Campus Committee Activity Report during Lockdown period
During the Period of Nation Lockdown due to Covid-19
To keep the students engaged and to cultivate the habit of Growing their own plants at their
home during the period of Lockdown, Go Green Campus members were given activity.
This activity was given on 17th April, 2020 with the title “Go Green By Growing Green”
students were encouraged to grow Micro Greens and other type of plants at their home and
were asked to capture the picture of planted greens and to monitor the change of growth and
asked to post the picture in Go Green WhatsApp group.
This activity encouraged them to Stay home, Stay Safe and to Save Nature during the
period of National Lockdown due to Covid-19.
Activity 2
World Earth Day On 22nd April,2020
In Connection with 50th World Earth Day on 22nd April,2020
Go Green Campus Members Presented a video clip of the Vegetable Garden which was
inaugurated by our Trustee and Principal and the various plants grown and pampered by our
own students inside the college and at their home was filmed and presented and created the
awareness of being responsible to the nature and to protect Mother Earth
These Video clips was shared among various WhatsApp Groups and Social Media to
create awareness among our college students, faculties and the society to be responsible
to the Nature and Mother Earth.

Harvested Greens was given to our college Security during Lockdown Period
Activity 3
Prepare “One’s own Black Gold to your Garden” (own Compost) from their own
kitchen waste this activity encouraged students to have a sustainable life during
Lockdown Period.
This activity was given on 2nd May,2020, Few articles and videos related preparation of Own
Compost at home was being sent through WhatsApp to guide and encourage students to
prepare their own Compost at home during lockdown period.
World Environment Day 5th June, 2020
The food we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink and the climate that makes our planet habitable, all come from nature.
Yet, there are exceptional times in which nature is sending us a message. To care for ourselves we must care for nature. Yes, it’s time to wake up. To take notice to protect and to have a sustainable life back.
This World Environment Day is the time to protect our Biodiversity.
Activity 1
To keep the students engaged and to cultivate the habit of growing their own plants at their
home during the Lockdown period due to covid-19.
An “Intercollegiate Competition on Go Green by Growing Green during Lockdown due
to Covid-19”was organized by IQAC in association with Go Green Campus Committee
&B.PAC was conducted from 10-05-2020 to 31-05-2020
We received very good response from various colleges out of which 24 students Actively
Participated in the event by sending the pictures of Plants grown at different stages along
with detailed report including method of plantation and importance of the plants.
Results of this event was announced on World Environment Day 5th June, 2020

Activity 2
We the Go Green Campus Committee of B.M.S College for Women take an opportunity to protect our Biodiversity on World Environment day 5th June, 2020 in protecting the urban habitats which provides home and Food for several Urban Birds Species such as Sparrows, Pigeons, House Martins, and Swifts etc.
So, student members of Go Green Campus was given an activity of preparing Bird Feeders out of Waste materials which were available at their home like Coconut Shell, Tetra pack boxes, Ice-cream sticks, Old Boxes can be used for the preparation and they were asked to send their photos.
Students took active participation in this activity and posted their photos of Bird Feeders setup in their house
Activity 3
One of the objectives of Go Green Campus of our college is Waste Management.
Our college is converting wet and dry waste into compost.
In Connection to World Environment Day 5th June, 2020. We Go Green Campus Committee of B.M.S College for Women took an opportunity in Gifting the Compost prepared by our college to our Staff Members and encouraged them to grow more trees with the intention of bringing down the air pollution level in the city and to have a sustainable life.
Activity 4
Intercollegiate Competition on “Trash 2 Treasure” An Inspiring and Creative upcycling from 3rd August, 2020 till 13th August,2020
An “Intercollegiate Competition on “Trash 2 Treasure” An Inspiring and Creative upcycling
was organized by Go Green Campus Committee from 03-08-2020 till 13-08-2020
Trash to Treasure Intercollegiate competition is an opportunity for students to learn more
about responsible use of recycling resources and sustainable living during this pandemic
situation through creative exploration. This Competition provides opportunity for students
and promotes recycling and reuse of materials emphasizing creative and innovative in line
with our Go Green Campus goals to build an eco-friendly eco-system.
Go Green Campus Committee of B.M.S College for Women inspired, motivated and
stimulated the innovative spirit among all young students by inviting students from various
colleges to participate in this Intercollegiate competition.
We received overwhelming response from various colleges from Bangalore out of which 25
students Actively Participated in the event by sending the images of various process of
creative upcycling and the final Treasure made by them out of Trash along with detailed
report including method of collection of Trash and creating it into a beautiful and useful
Treasure and their importance.

The results of this Competition were announced on 19th August,2020.
All the Participants who actively participated in this event received E-certificate of
participation.
Among 25 participants 5 participants were received E-certificate of Excellence for their
outstanding performance.
