management, information services (IS),

governance and legal work.

One of Peter’s key achievements as Executive

Director of Corporate Services was getting the

go–ahead to regenerate Barnardo's Barkingside

site and delivering a new head office. Staff will be

moving into the offices this summer.

Peter’s motivations for working at Barnardo's I suspect what motivates me about working here is the same as what motivates everybody

else, it’s the work that we do with children, which is just brilliant. That gets me up in the

morning.”

Peter’s future focus for Barnardo's It’s making sure that Barnardo’s is in a really robust position, so strengthening its financial

base and improving the infrastructure for everybody so we can all work better together. I

think that’s what I most want to achieve, so Barnardo’s is even healthier than it is now,

looking confidently to the future."

Peter’s CV

Peter achieved a BSc in Chemical Engineering from Manchester University. He started

his career in IT as a computer programmer and then a system designer. Then he joined

the Treasury where he spent 17 years, before moving to the Home Office. His last role in

the civil service was at the Ministry of Justice where he was Director General of Finance

and Commerce. He came to Barnardo’s on secondment in 2009 and was confirmed in post

as Executive Director of Corporate Services January 2011.
