AMBASSADOR COMPETITION FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2019 AT 7:00 PM

The Ambassador Competition is held in the Entertainment Building shortly after Opening Ceremonies.

I would like to start by thanking the Wallacetown Fair Board, and Agricultural

Society for all their support, and the opportunities they have provided me with this

past year. I would also like to respectively thank the Dutton Lions Club for

sponsoring me, and all the local businesses for their generous donations granted to

myself and the other contestants. Beyond that, the community plays a huge role in

making me so proud to be representing one of the largest and most successful

rural fairs here in southern Ontario. This is no small feat for a tiny town, and the

community supporting our hardworking Fair Board is a vital aspect to such an

achievement.

The Ambassador program has provided with a platform where I have been able to

work on my public speaking skills, specifically within agriculture, but has also left

me with a greater appreciation for the importance of agricultural societies.

Wallacetown’s Society reflects the values within our farming community. District

meetings, Convention, and the CNE gave me a venue to

2018 – 2019 Fair Ambassador

listen and critically think about the future of agriculture; whether that be the growing industry of Agri-tourism, or the

increasing importance of sustainability.

I encourage the future ambassador to fully participate in their upcoming year. The Wallacetown Agricultural Society is

open and willing to listen to new ideas, so please don’t be passive in your position. The Ambassador program is a

position where you will get to learn, be engaged, and make a difference all while having fun.

With my term as the 2018/2019 ambassador ending, I wish everyone luck in the competition this September, and wish

the Wallacetown community and surrounding areas another successful and joyful year at the fair.

Many thanks, Janine Noorloos

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Sheri Lackey

On Saturday we have demonstrations in the Homecraft and Entertainment Buildings for you to enjoy. Our

exhibits and displays of Flowers, Needlecraft, Culinary, Art, Photography, Wine, Card Table and Group Displays

are fantastic every year and we look forward to an amazing display again.

Thank you to all our Homecraft committees and volunteers. Your commitment to attending meetings,

helping set up and tear down fair weekend, your assistance the day before the fair, and your willingness to always

be ready to help is SO appreciated.

Enjoy the weekend, bring your family, meet your friends, make new friends, eat lots of different fair goodies

and take-home memories to treasure.

See you at the Fair.

You can find all sorts of delights behind the doors of our exhibition barns that are open all weekend. From

baking and handcrafts, photography and art, flowers, wine and displays in the Homecraft building to the crops,

vegetables and student arts and crafts in the Junior Fair barn, the vendors and the entertainment, there is always

something that will catch your attention. Saturday’s beef cattle show, and Sunday’s sheep show showcase many

different breeds of these animals.

Make some new four-legged friends at the Ken Jen Petting Zoo and be sure to greet Fletcher the Ostrich.

Find a seat in the grandstand on Saturday afternoon for the car-crushing Monster Truck show and in the evening

watch our local drivers race through our Mud Bog. Sunday afternoon is another popular event as more drivers

attempt to be last one in the ring of our Demo Derby.

Returning this year is our midway with Campbell Amusements with their rides for all ages.

They say it takes a village to raise a child. This 159-year-old ‘child’ takes more than just a village. Thank you to the

entire community and area around for your support, your sponsorships and donations, your ideas and creativity for

new and exciting things to help fill our displays, and your volunteering. This Fair would not exist and thrive without

these things and the numerous other ways you show your support throughout the year.

A huge thank you to the Board of Directors and Associate Directors. Your countless hours (and sometimes

days and months), your creativity and dedication to bringing this fair into being does not go unnoticed. You are an

amazing group of people!

Here’s to good friends, good times and good weather! See you at the Fair!!

HOMECRAFT PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Lin McCann

Welcome everyone to the 159th edition of the Wallacetown Fair as we celebrate

our agricultural roots with “Barn Doors and Dirt Floors”. Wander through the

barn doors of the Sheep Barn on Friday night and party on the dirt floor with

Connor Wilson and his band. Cheer on your favourite contestant as they vie for

Fair Ambassador in the Entertainment Barn.

Once again, we are presenting our Annual Fall Fair for everyone to

see what’s new and exciting. Our theme Barn Doors and Dirt Floors was

fun to incorporate in our prize list. We invite you to participate in any or

all of our classes showing your talents and we are proud to display your

entries.
