FOWE News: ● Don’t miss the Barn Dance & Silent Auction tonight at 6pm!! Chili and hot dogs will

be available. Please bring a non-perishable food donation for the local food shelf. ● We would like to thank all of the people who made our Election Day pie sale a HUGE

success! It is an enormous undertaking made possible by the cooperation of a large group. We thank everyone who solicited donations, contributed supplies, made pie shells, filled and baked pie shells, transported pies and students to the Town Clerk’s office, and sold pies. We are so fortunate to have so much support from within the school community and the Weybridge community at large. This team helped us raise close to $1500 in funds for FOWE!

● ● Please join us for the next School Board/FOWE meeting at 6pm on Tuesday, November

15th. You can preview the FOWE agenda here.

Third Annual Potluck Dinner w/ Middlebury College Education Studies Students: All are welcome. Students in grades 3-6 have been meeting weekly with the college students. They have been reading books by Jacqueline Woodson and other authors about African American history. The 5th/6th graders have also read Woodson’s book, Brown Girl Dreaming in class. This Thursday, November 17th, 6:00, we hold our third annual potluck supper to come together to discuss ideas and issue raised by the books we have read. This year we will watch and discuss Chimamanda Adichie’s Ted Talk, The Danger of the Single Story. “Our lives, our cultures, are composed of many overlapping stories. Novelist Chimamanda Adichie tells the story of how she found her authentic cultural voice — and warns that if we hear only a single story about another person or country, we risk a critical misunderstanding.” We hope you will join us. If you would like to read Brown Girl Dreaming, please let Kathy know, and we will get a copy to you today or by Monday.

Playground Architecture

Have a restful weekend. Christina

Community News: Button Up Day Information Table and Raffle in Weybridge - The Weybridge Town Energy Committee is encouraging its residents to participate in the Button Up Day of Action on Saturday, November 12, to prepare for the winter season by reducing the energy costs and improving the comfort of their homes. On November 12, Button Up Day events and activities will take place across the state to provide Vermonters with the information and resources they need to save energy and money. Thousands of Vermonters are expected to participate in some way, either by attending an event, or by taking an energy-saving action on their own. In Weybridge that Saturday morning, members of the Energy Committee will be at the Recycling Center to offer tips on buttoning up your home, getting a home energy audit, and participating in an energy pledge raffle. The raffle prize is a free home energy audit from Neighborworks HeatSquad. Every participant will receive a free LED bulb or another energy saving device while supplies last. Those who aren’t able to attend a community event on that day are still encouraged to “Button Up” by taking advantage of the many resources available on the Button Up Vermont website. These include informational videos and an energy-saving action checklist. Visit www.buttonupvermont.org for these resources and a full list of events and activities taking place across Vermont. For more information, contact Fran Putnam at 388-1644 or [email protected] . Screenagers - Middlebury College is presenting a special screening of Screenagers: Growing up in the Digital Age in the Dana Auditorium on Wednesday, December 7 at 7:30pm. All are welcome to attend this free presentation.
