Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Counseling (SAIOPT)
> Matrix Model foundation including intensive
and comprehensive group and individual/
conjoint therapy
> Skill building focused on early recovery,
relapse prevention, and family education
> Treatment duration is 36-42 sessions
> Individuals are committed to living a sober
and abstinent lifestyle
> This service is covered by state and Medicaid
funding sources and is no cost to the
consumer
> If you are a consumer seeking this level of
treatment to satisfy your DWI process, DWI
assessment is required for a $100 fee
> Intake appointments are provided throughout
the week and can be obtained by calling or
visiting our office
DWI SERVICES
> Call 828-524-3833 (Franklin) or 828-586-8958 (Sylva) for scheduling.
Assessment > Required by State of North Carolina
> $100 cash, credit or debit card due at
the time of assessment
> Bring copy of your ticket, breathalyzer,
driving history and judgement
Alcohol Drug Education Training School (ADETS)
> $160 due at first class session
> Attendance required at every class to
receive credit
> Cash, credit or debit card accepted
Short Term & Long Term Treatment> 20 hour short term treatment
completed in a minimum of 30 days
> 40 hour long term treatment
completed in a minimum of 60 days
> $40 per class
> Cash, credit or debit card accepted

SERVICESIntensive In-Home Treatment > Services children ages 3-17 who have a primary
mental health diagnosis coupled with significant
behavioral experiences
> At risk of or currently in an out-of-home
placement where reunification is imminent
> Treatment aims at crisis resolution, establishing
home stability, coping and social skills building,
and providing support to the family through
counseling and case management supports
> Medicaid and NC Health Choice insurance are
accepted
Intensive Family Preservation & Reunification
> Designed to prevent the necessity of placing
children away from their families in foster care,
juvenile or phychiatric locations
> Service duration of 4-6 weeks
> In-home intensive counseling and support
> Individuals must be referred by Department of
Social Services personnel
In 2011, Mountain Youth Resources (MYR),
Appalachian Family Innovations (AFI),
Mental Health Professionals (MHP) and
Professional Parenting joined Barium
Springs operating under one name.
“In 2002, I started MHP to serve 7 WNC
counties. In 2011, we joined Barium Springs
to offer more services to our community,”
