We are now officially Madagascar bound!! Rob just ar-ved home
from his interviews and exams at the MAF-UKffice and has been
selected for the position of Chief Engi-eer in Madagascar. This
will be a challenging role forob as he will have many more roles
beyond maintainingrcraft.
Madagascar is known for its delightful lemurs, majestic
rests, and exotic wildlife found nowhere else in theorld. A
sought after vacation spot for many in France
nd Eastern Canada. However, in this so-calledaradise, humans do
not fare so well.
Malagasy homes and farms are torn apart by natural disaster and
cyclones almost every year. Only 30% of its inhabitants havcess to
clean drinking water and toilet facilities. These people are highly
vulnerable to disease: malaria, dengue fever, tubers, hepatitis,
typhoid, and even bubonic plague.
MAF is their lifeline. With up to 80% of the road system
unusable during the rainy season, air travel has become the only
safeode of transportation. What a 4x4 vehicle can travel in two
days during the dry season an MAF Caravan aircraft can do ininutes.
This is truly the difference between life and death for many
inhabitants of Madagascar.
ur flights deliver relief and aid after a cyclone hits, but they
also deliver year round support for local hospitals. MAF suppor
ean water projects, schools, literacy efforts, the Jesus film
ministry, and the Malagasy pastors and Missionaries who seek to w
Christs example by addressing both the physical and spiritual needs
of the people.

rivo but devotes a fullweek six times a yearto Madagascar
Medi-cal Safari (MMS).Through this safarihe is fulfilling hisdream
helping people in remote places like the village of Manakana and
sharing theGospel and the love of Christ with their people. Dr.
Fernand starts a usual safari moing with a Bible study with the
local leaders, followed by medical consultations andgeries in the
afternoon. He ends each day focusing on the children, sharing the
Gospand teaching them songs. He has partnered with MAF and because
of the aircraft hable to minister to these remote people. MAF flies
in the supplies and equipment required for the safari as well as
the personnel. Together we share a combined vision, help people in
remote places and share with them the Gospel and the love of
Christ

hese last two months have beenull! We had the privilege to
hostwo fellow MAF families duringheir travels around the
province.he first family stayed one night,nd the second family
stayed twoghts, each with their three chil-
ren. Between having these fami-es in our home and visiting
with
ther friends, squeezing in moreork on the house, and traveling
the island for a week, time is
oing quickly! Summer wentven faster than it usually seems go.
While on the island, seeing folks from Karinas child-
ood encouraged us beyond words. The Naylors and Finni-ansto name
a few who we saw. Many people have played aart in our lives to
shape us and take us to where we are today!

baseboards,indow sills, railings, are a few items on our To-Do list
for theouse. Rather than selling, we are praying that God provide
aliable renter. We are so thankful to have capable friends
will-
ng to look after any required maintenance on the house whilee
are overseas. Now that we arent rushing to finish for re-
ale, we are breathing a little easier. There is still a lot to
do; were overwhelmed sometimes! But rest in the assurance of
Godsming.

children continue to keep us busy! Wes turned 2 inugust, and Joy is
coming up on 1. Despite our busy schedules,
