LEVELS OF COURSEWORK

PAP/AP vs. Dual Credit

PAP and AP Courses Dual Credit Courses

PAP courses in grades 9, 10, and 11 prepare students for AP courses.

Successful completion of an AP course gives students high school credit.

Scoring well on an AP test (3, 4, or 5) gives students college credit, depending on the institution.

Weighted grade points are awarded to PAP and AP courses (5.0, 6.0). AP courses can be an advanced measure on the Distinguished Achievement Plan.*

Successful completion of AP coursework is the best indicator for college success and ranks as one of the leading indicators for admission into the most competitive colleges and universities.

*if certain criteria are met

PAP courses in grades 9, 10, and 11 can also prepare students for dual credit courses.

Successful completion of a dual credit course gives students high school credit and college credit (Lee College).

Weighted grade points are awarded to Dual Credit courses (5.5) that are taken during the regular school day in the fall and spring semesters. DC courses taken during the summer do not count toward GPA but can be applied as an advanced measure on the Distinguished Achievement Plan.*

Successful completion of dual credit
