Baptism-Why?

Text: John 3:16-36vs 22,23...After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized. And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized. (Joh 3:22-23)

I. John The Baptist was sent by God to preach repentance and faith and to baptize. Jn. 3:23; Mk. 1:1-4

Rom 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Biblical Baptism involves:

Proper Candidate: born again believer in Christ.

Proper Authority: Bible believing church

Proper Mode: immersion in water

Proper Motive: obedience & good conscience

toward God, not salvation.
