The 2018 edition, won by Hungarian player Marton Fucsovics, attracted 24,000 people over the week. Stan Wawrinka, winner in 2016 and 2017, Steve Johnson, American young player Frances Tiafoe, along with Marton Fucsovics and Fabio Fognini of course, once again made it a very intense and competitive edition.

The fourth edition of the Banque Eric Sturdza Open tournament has lived up to all its promises. It enabled the public to applause history-making champions such as Stan Wawrinka and David Ferrer, and presented players who accomplished great things that year, like Italian player Marco Cecchinato, semi-finalist in Roland-Garros, or Romanian player Marius Copil, finalist in the 2018 Swiss Indoors of Basel against Roger Federer.

It was Hungarian player Marton Fucsovics who won the 2018 tournament, picking up the first prize in his career, thirty-eight years after the success of his compatriot Balazs Taroczy during the first ATP tournament ever played in Geneva. In doubles, the title went to Croatian player Mate Pavic and Austrian player Oliver Marach.

Building on the success of this fourth edition, which also featured Fabio Fognini of Italy, one of the most popular players on the circuit, the Banque Eric Sturdza Geneva Open tournament has become one of the key events of the spring season. It allows players to refine their preparation for the great rendezvous of Roland-Garros. This proximity between the two tournaments, along with the lessons drawn since 2015, have proved extremely beneficial for the Banque Eric Sturdza Geneva Open. Which, by the quality of its infrastructure and the beauty of its site, seduces not only players, but also tennis governing bodies - as attested by the distinction awarded in 2017 by ATP to salute the tournament’s development.

With four sold-out days and an influx of 27,000 spectators over the week, the 2017 edition of the Banque Eric Sturdza Geneva Open has had an undeniable popular success.

Recognizing this success, the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) awarded Banque Eric Sturdza Geneva Open the “Most Improved European Tournament of the Year” award. This distinction can be considered as the ultimate proof of the tournament’s high standing within the ATP circuit.

It should be noted that the 2017 edition has achieved remarkable television audiences. It has been broadcast in 101 countries to reach 253 million households. It benefitted from a total of 440 hours of broadcasting, including 250 hours live via the SSR, Eurosport and IEC (Lagardère Sport).

With Stan Wawrinka, Kei Nishikori, Mischa Zverev, Sam Querrey and Kevin Anderson, but also Albert Ramos-Vinolas, John Isner, Paolo Lorenzi and Steve Johnson, the Banque Eric Sturdza Geneva Open tournament has brought together many players who have made the news in 2017. A year after being one of only two ATP 250 tournaments to present a final between two winners of a Grand Slam tournament – Stan Wawrinka and Marin Cilic, Banque Eric Sturdza really stands out as the one of the top tournaments in its category.

For its 2016 edition, the Banque Eric Sturdza Geneva Open tournament was fortunate to have an exceptional ambassador: the great champion Stan Wawrinka. Wawrinka, who rose to victory in 2016 for his first Swiss title at the Parc des Eaux-Vives, holds the extraordinary record of three Grand Slam titles during an era in which Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray remain otherwise unchallenged.

The 2016 edition reunited top ATP players around Stan Wawrinka: notably Marin Cilic, David Ferrer, John Isner, Sam Querrey and Steve Johnson.
