A letter of gratitude to our wonderful customers: It has been a great blessing for our company to have the good fortune to work with so many artisans and families in Guatemala. When we visit Guatemala we are overcome with the beauty of this country. To us it is like no other place on earth. Beautiful volcanoes and lakes surround the small villages we work in. Flowers are all always blooming everywhere, but the scenery is only a small part of the beauty. It is the people, the families, and the children that overwhelm us with their overflowing graciousness, generosity, and joy! Every place you look is filled with bright colors or bright smiles. The people are friendly and joyful although often very poor. Many live a life with none of the modern comforts such as clean water or electricity. Even with so little, their lives are rich with laughter, joy and hope. Guatemala is a country rich in history and tradition; many Mayan people still wear traditional clothing and follow traditional customs. It is amazing to see how in these modern times the Mayan people have still been able to maintain their rich culture. We hope our collections are a way of sharing that culture and are helping to preserve some of the traditions of the artisans. Every purchase you make from our Peaceweavers collection directly contributes to the well being of these people and really makes a difference in the lives of many families. Your purchases provide jobs and income for over 200 people. From the proceeds of our collection we have been able to contribute two meals a week and groceries for 12 widowed elders that have no family to take care of them. Your purchases of our product line have helped many children continue in school and move on to higher education. We also have been able to make contributions to organizations that help create businesses and jobs for women. Thank you so much for supporting Bamboo Trading Company’s Peaceweavers collection.
