How our Flexible Hop-on Hop-off passes work:

TrIP TyPE: INDEPENDENT Most of our Hop-on Hop-off Passes are considered as ‘Independent’. There is no trip leader to follow around, only local guides for each included experience. You will be on your own travel-ling independently and at your own pace! There are many like-minded travellers you will meet along the way too.

We will pre-book all your transportation and included experiences, the rest will be up to you. Our Happiness Team will always be there to help and answer any questions you may have be-fore, during and after your trip.

TrIP TyPE: GuIDEDWe also offer Guided Hop-on Hop-off Passes in some specific regions, including Turkey and Australia. With 2-3 departures a week and guides to accompany you, your travel days will be more structured.

Travellers with a tight schedule can follow the day by day itinerary and keep the same guide/driver during the whole journey, or you can hop-on and hop-off anywhere along the route to stay for as long as you want in each destination and wait for the next bus to come by!

Adventure Trips are organised trips with set itineraries which can be combined with any other Bamba trip or booked independently.

There’s no tour leader to follow around on these adventures, only local guides for each included activity. You will travel independently on a fixed itinerary with pre-booked public transportation, activities and accommodation. Take advantage of some free time to go explore at your own pace. Choose to stay overnight in hostels, 3-star, or 4-star hotels.

If you are looking for private arrangements for you and your travel buddy(ies), our private adventures are perfect for you! We offer a wide range of itineraries that come with a private driver/guide most of the time. Our list of adventures in the brochure is just a reference. We can easily help you create and personalise your own private adventure!

These small group adventures include great local guides, all of your transportation, accommodation, and some meals. They give you the chance to move around more easily, step off the beaten path, and immerse yourself in the local culture. You’ll usually share your trip with no more than 12 like-minded travellers, though the average group size is often lower.

Bus tours offer a cheap way to visit touristic sites. You will usually be travelling with a large group by bus, on a fixed schedule. Most of these tours only include bus transportation and accommodation, entrance fees and activities must be paid locally. These are independent tours accompanied by a tour coordinator who will organise the tour but not guide you.

Embark on a challenging and beautifully scenic trek along a less-frequented route in the pristine landscapes of the majestic Andes mountain range. Take this alternative route to Machu Picchu with up-close and-per-sonal views of massive 6000-metre Salkantay and Humantay peaks.

Attend a pre-departure briefing at Milhouse Hostel in Cuzco one day prior to your trek where you can meet your guide, ask questions and receive last minute information.

Day 1: Cuzco to Mollepata, Trek to Soraypampa Camp (L/D)Hostel pick-up at 4:30 am and bus transfer to Mollepata (2,900m) for a quick breakfast. A 4-hour walk will take us to Sayllapata for lunch with views of beautiful snow-capped mountains. Ascend to Soraypampa Camp (3,920m) arriving by 5:30pm for dinner and bedtime. (19 km, 7.5 hours)

Day 2: Trek to Challhuay or Colcapampa Camp (B/L/D)Have breakfast at 6:00 am and hike for 4 hours to a breathtaking high pass at 4,650m between Salkantay and Humantay mountains where we may find snow or ice. Descend for 2 hours and enjoy lunch at Huayracpampa, followed by a 3-hour trek to our campsite at Challhuay or Colcapampa in the high jungle immersed in nature at 2,900 meters. (22 km, 9-10 hours)

Day 3: Trek to Santa Teresa Town (B/L/D)After breakfast at 6:30 am, start trekking through the lush upper jungle crossing the Santa Teresa River through valleys with pristine waterfalls and tropical fruit trees. Have lunch at La Playa (2,200m) and camp in Santa Teresa town (1,700 meters) with the option to soak your sore muscles in the thermal springs (20 soles extra). (15 km; 5.5 hours)

Day 4: Trek to Hydroelectric Station & Aguas Calientes (B/L/D)Have a late breakfast today at 8:00 am and hike along a relaxing path for 3 hours to reach the hydroelectric station at low altitude of 1,880 meters for lunch. Hike 3 more hours slightly uphill to reach the long awaited town of Aguas Calientes 2,010 meters. Recharge your batteries by taking an optional visit to the hot springs (10 soles extra) and have a well-deserved dinner at a local restaurant. Rest up for a big day ahead in Machu Picchu! (18 km; 6 hours)

Day 5: Explore Machu Picchu & Return to Cuzco (B)Catch the early bus to Machu Picchu at 5:30am and arrive for sunrise. A 2-hour walking tour is given by your guide with time to explore the mysterious city by yourselves afterward. Hike the optional Huayna Picchu Peak (30 soles extra in advance). When you are ready to return to Aguas Calientes, take the bus back downhill at your leisure. From Aguas Calientes, take the train to Ollantaytambo and then transfer to Cuzco by bus. You will be dropped off at Plaza San Francisco where you can make your own way back to the hotel of your choice.

Death Road Adventure1 Start / Finish: La PazDay

If you’re an adventure lover, this day trip is for you! Ride the Most Dangerous Road in the World near La Paz, Bolivia if you dare.

Navigate hair-raising curves with sheer vertical drops and sweeping views of the valley. Begin your adventure in La Cumbre (4,700m) with a safety briefing and descend 3,500 meters in approximately 5 hours, passing high altitude snowy peaks, beautiful waterfalls, and lush jungle scenery. Feel the adrenaline pumping through your veins as you cruise along this infamous dirt track. Make a rest stop at Unduavi to fuel up on snacks and water and pass by the Curve of Death with waterfalls and a vertical drop. Tonight, you will have the chance to dance with a real Samba School in the Sam-badrome (must be pre-booked in advance). The group will walk together to Avenue Presidente Vargas meeting point for the Samba School package. Here everyone has the chance to take awesome pictures of the excite-ment as the dancers enthusiastically prepare for their Sambadrome performance. Say goodbye to the dancers and continue on with your guides in search of the most epic bloco and crazy Carnival parties tonight.

February 15th: Pre-Carnival Party & Sambadrome Parade (B)This morning you can go and explore the city on your own. In the afternoon you will go to the Sunday Night Parade at the Sambadrome. This is where all the best samba schools parade their outrageous floats and cos-tumes down the runway. Section 12 tickets are included in your package, which is known to be the liveliest of all the sections with lots of fun and rowdy locals making for an unforgettable experience that lasts until dawn!

February 16th: Bloco street party & Pre-Carnival Party at Flamengo Beach (B)Spend some time on the beach or go out to another bloco with one of the guides. As always, the guides will be down at breakfast to answer any questions you may have. Later you will experience a pre-carnival party down at Flamengo Beach/Park. If you are doing the 4D/3N tour then this is the day of departure.

February 17th: Rio City Tour, Pre-Carnival Party & Lapa Street Party (B)Drive through the Tijuca National Park to Corcovado for the half-day guided tour. View the Christ the Redeemer statue, one of the most iconic sights of Rio. Spend the afternoon at another street bloco with one of the guides before going to the glamorous ‘Gay Ball’ tonight in style!

February 18th: Favela Tour & Fancy Dress Party (B)You will be picked up for a half-day Favela Tour of Santa Marta Community. The tour is run by the residents themselves. The group will be led by an accredited local guide through narrow streets and alleys experiencing the daily life of this community. At night you will be going to the final Pre-Carnival party which is a fancy dress party.

Lost City Trek5 Start / Finish: Santa Marta

Venture deep into the jungle in search of the Lost City on an intrepid trek where you will hike through indig-enous villages, forge the Buritaca river, sleep in hammocks and climb 1,200 mossy steps to reach one of the largest Tayrona cities in Latin America.

Day 1: Depart Santa Marta - Trek to 1st Camp (L/D)Travel by jeep for 3 hours, getting excited for your trek, into one of the largest pre-Columbian towns in Latin America, once inhabited by the Tayrona civilization around the 11th to 14th century. Begin your 6 kilometer hike (approx. 4 hours) through the jungle, passing by several natural pools, until you reach the first camp (Al-fredo or Adan) where you will set up your hammocks for the night.

Day 2: Trek to 2nd Camp (B/L/D) Have an early breakfast before departing on another 6 kilometer trek (approx. 4 hours). Walk through the indigenous village of Mutanyi and learn about its native inhabitants and the local life in the jungle. Snack on fresh fruits during the trek before reaching Mumaker, your second camp during the trek. Day 3: Trek to 3rd Camp (B/L/D)Wake up to the morning sounds of the jungle and get ready for today’s 6 kilometer hike (approx. 4 hours) en route to your third camp, Romualdo. During the day you will meet indigenous families in their native lands and cross the Buritaca river several times refreshing yourself in the cool waters.

Day 4: Explore the Lost City (B/L/D) This morning, 1,200 mossy steps take you uphill to the mysterious site of Ciudad Perdida (approx. 1 hour), nestled on the steep slopes of the Rio Buritaca river valley at 1,300m. Walk among the 170 stone terraces and endless staircases that cover the approximately 2 square kilometers that was once the largest Tayrona city and major economic and political center.

Day 5: Return to Santa Marta (B)Today marks the last day of this incredible trek. Return back to the coastal town of Santa Marta where you can reward yourself with a well-deserved meal and rest at the beach after your challenging trek.
