Ballsbridge has always had a love of drama and a sense of occasion. In 1907 The Irish International Exhibition was held on the scrubland between the villages of Donnybrook and Ballsbridge not far from where the InterContinental now sits. Over 3 million people visited the fair. The exhibition showcased Irish industry and craft as well as a variety of exotic and global exhibits. Today Ballsbridge is still as vibrant as ever with the RDS taking the place of the Great Exhibition and showcasing many shows, exhibits and concerts, while The InterContinental Hotel offers a place where people come to relax, dine and mull over the days events in this historic location.
